| Which localities achieved export turnover of over 10 billion USD after 7 months of 2023? Bac Ninh: Industrial production recovery opens the way for new investment capital flows |
For many years, Ho Chi Minh City and Bac Ninh have always been the leading localities in the country in terms of import and export. According to the Vietnam Import and Export Report 2022, Ho Chi Minh City also leads the 10 provinces and cities with the highest export turnover in the country with 47.5 billion USD; Bac Ninh reached 42.5 billion USD, maintaining the second position in the country.
In the context of the domestic and world economies still having fluctuations, this result shows the determination and flexibility in the direction and management of Bac Ninh province. Especially the joint efforts and consensus of all levels, sectors, people and business community in implementing the dual goals.

Along with exports, July was also the 5th consecutive month that Bac Ninh's industrial production increased compared to the previous month and was the month with the highest increase (+23.84%).
Notably, the production index of the electronics, computer and optical products manufacturing industry had a higher increase than the general increase (+28.69%) compared to the previous month and was the first month this industry achieved a slight increase (+0.32%) compared to the same month last year (the previous 6 months all decreased).
In addition, the number of newly registered enterprises and total registered capital increased in both comparisons of the previous month and the same period last year. Accumulated in the first 7 months of 2023, all 3 indicators: Number of newly established enterprises, total registered capital and average registered capital per newly established enterprise all increased significantly compared to the same period last year, respectively (+32.7%), (+71.2%) and (+29.1%), showing a positive signal, the entrepreneurial spirit of people and businesses.
In particular, from June 2023, the strong recovery of industrial production has opened the way for new investment capital to increase in Bac Ninh.
Data from the Department of Planning and Investment of Bac Ninh shows that: In July 2023 alone, the province granted new investment registrations to 43 FDI projects, with a total registered investment capital of 198.37 million USD; adjusted capital for 14 projects, with an increased adjusted capital of 27.09 million USD; issued 11 notices of approval for capital contribution, purchase of shares, and capital contributions of foreign investors in economic organizations with a value of 6.63 million USD; terminated the operation of 2 projects, with a total registered investment capital of 14.3 million USD.
Since the beginning of the year, Bac Ninh has granted new licenses to 182 FDI projects with a total registered investment capital of 768.8 million USD; adjusted capital for 88 projects with an increased adjusted capital of 352.47 million USD; contributed capital, purchased shares, and contributed capital for 33 times with a value of 16.47 million USD; and revoked 26 projects with a total investment capital of 62.83 million USD.
Up to now, Bac Ninh has granted investment registration to 1,975 valid projects, with total registered investment capital after adjustment and capital contribution, share purchase, and capital contribution reaching 24,441.927 million USD.
These results reflect the great efforts of the locality as well as the enterprises. This helps investors feel more secure when doing business in Vietnam in general and Bac Ninh in particular.
Although many positive results have been achieved, in the coming time, like many other localities across the country, the business community of Bac Ninh province needs to continue to make more efforts to boost production, maintain business activities as well as expand the consumption market...
