The appointment ceremony was held yesterday, March 19, in Hanoi. Speaking at the appointment ceremony, the new Vice President of the Vietnam Energy Association (VEA) Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh affirmed that the VEA is a long-standing, large-scale and prestigious industry association in Vietnam.

Over the years, the Vietnam Energy Association has made many contributions to the development of the Vietnamese energy industry; especially in the new context when energy is increasingly becoming an important sector of the country.

With the trust and confidence of the Association, the new position will give her the opportunity to contribute more to the development of the Vietnamese energy industry in general and the development of the Vietnam Energy Association in particular.

This is an honor and at the same time a great responsibility to all members, especially in the context that the energy industry is facing many new opportunities and challenges as well as many bottlenecks of previously invested projects that have not been cleared and resolved.

The leaders of the Vietnam Energy Association presented the decision to appoint the position of Vice President of the Association to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy General Director of T&T Group, President of T&T Energy.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, from a personal perspective, in her dual role as Deputy General Director of T&T Group, President of T&T Energy Company, and Vice President of the Vietnam Energy Association, she hopes to make practical contributions to the realization of the Association's orientations and plans; contributing to the further development of the Vietnam Energy Association, becoming a prestigious organization for government agencies, businesses or international partners in need of advice on energy development policies or orientations.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice President (First) of the Vietnam Energy Association, the energy industry is currently facing many changes, especially the issue of energy transition, creating opportunities for many new clean and green energy sources, but at the same time there are also many challenges because everything is still in the beginning stages, having to find a way to go.

In the recent past, T&T Group has made many contributions to the Association in particular and the national energy sector in general. T&T Energy becoming a member of the Vietnam Energy Association and the appointment of the Chairman of T&T Energy as Vice Chairman of the Association will contribute to promoting the effective and quality development and enhancing the reputation of the Association in the coming time.

T&T Group and cross-border energy investment strategy

Also at the event, the Deputy General Director of T&T Group said that to realize the goal of becoming the leading energy developer in Vietnam, T&T Group has established T&T Energy Group (T&T Energy).

Up to now, Mr. Hien's group has deployed a total cumulative investment of 2,800 Mw; including completing and putting into operation 10 wind and solar power plants in the provinces of Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Soc Trang, Gia Lai..., with a total installed capacity and connection to the national grid reaching nearly 1,000 MW.

In addition, T&T Group, together with a consortium of Korean investors, is currently investing in the LNG Power Center Phase 1 project in Quang Tri with a total capacity of 1,500 MW, investment capital of about 2.3 billion USD, expected to operate in 2029.

In addition, T&T Group is continuing to develop and invest in many renewable energy projects, low-carbon emission projects such as solar power, onshore and offshore wind power, biomass power, LNG power, converting raw materials from coal-fired thermal power plants to LNG, battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing plants, researching new types of energy such as hydrogen, ammonia... to supply electricity to the national grid, sell electricity to FDI enterprises under the direct power purchase mechanism DPPA, provide energy storage solutions for renewable energy plants, provide green electricity to produce green hydrogen, many projects have been approved in the Plan to implement the VIII Power Plan and are continuing to be added to the adjusted VIII Power Plan. T&T Group is preparing the necessary conditions to deploy investment in construction and put projects into operation in the 2026-2030 period.

By 2035, the total capacity of T&T Group's power sources will reach 16 GW - 18 GW, accounting for about 10% of the total capacity of Vietnam's power system and becoming the leading provider of energy storage solutions (BESS) in Vietnam.

To implement the projects, Mr. Hien's group has cooperated with many of the world's leading partners in the energy sector such as: Hanwha, Kogas, Kospo, SK E&S (Korea); erex, Marubeni, Sojittz, JPower (Japan); Cospower, Gedi, Goldwind (China), BP, (UK), Vinacom (Laos)... In particular, Standard Charted Bank has committed a 6 billion USD financing package for T&T Group's green energy projects.

T&T Group is continuing to develop and invest in many renewable energy projects at home and abroad.

Most recently, in early January 2025, the Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment awarded the Savan 1 wind power project franchise contract to Savan 1 Wind Power Company Limited (a member unit of T&T Group).

Accordingly, T&T Group and its partners have invested in the Savan 1 wind power plant project in Savanakhet province (Laos) with a total installed capacity of up to 495 MW and a total investment of about 768 million USD to sell electricity to Vietnam according to the electricity import policy approved by the Prime Minister. According to the plan, phase 1 of the project has an installed capacity of 300 MW, a total investment of more than 490 million USD and will be put into commercial operation by the end of 2025.

Savan 1 Wind Power Plant will be the largest onshore wind power project of T&T Group, contributing to expanding T&T Group's investment portfolio to realize the goal that by 2035, the total power generation capacity of renewable energy and low-carbon emission power plants is expected to reach about 12-15 GW, accounting for about 10% of the total installed capacity of Vietnam's power system.
