The Ministry of Transport has just approved partial adjustments to the Planning for the Development of the Dry Port System for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
The Decision has amended and supplemented a number of contents in Appendix I on "Summary of the Planning for the Development of the Dry Port System for the 2021-2030 Period, with a Vision to 2050".
Accordingly, Gia Binh dry port will be added to the planned dry port system in Bac Ninh province. With the new decision, Bac Ninh province is planned to have 4 dry ports including: Tan Chi, Que Vo, Yen Phong and Gia Binh dry ports.
Gia Binh dry port will be connected to Gia Binh airport.
Gia Binh dry port is located in Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province, connected to roads including National Highway 17, Hanoi Ring Road IV and Gia Binh airport, connecting to Hai Phong seaport, Quang Ninh and Lang Son border gate.
By 2030, Gia Binh dry port will have a planned area of 7-20 hectares with a throughput capacity of 70,000 - 200,000 TEUs/year. By 2050, the planned area will be about 52 hectares.
According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the formation of Gia Binh dry port is also determined to serve exclusively Gia Binh airport.
This will be a dry port with the clearest function, serving goods by air, and can combine serving goods by sea and road from some neighboring industrial parks.
According to forecasts, goods passing through Gia Binh dry port will be about 0.48 - 0.72 million tons (equivalent to 0.04 - 0.06 million TEU) by 2030.
Of which, air cargo is about 0.26 million tons (equivalent to 0.022 million TEU) and sea and road cargo is about 0.22 - 0.46 million tons (equivalent to 0.018 - 0.038 million TEU).
By 2030, the total volume of air cargo transported from industrial parks in the provinces of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hanoi is forecast to be more than 1.5 million tons and reach more than 11 million tons by 2050.
The volume of goods passing through Gia Binh Airport alone is about 0.26 million tons in 2030 and 1 million tons in 2050.
Considering the attractiveness of the port location in Gia Binh district, Gia Binh dry port can also attract more container cargo by sea and road on the corridor, equivalent to about 0.22 - 0.46 million tons of cargo.
