The Bac Binh Thuan Forestry Enterprise (a member of Binh Thuan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd.) is located gently on a slope, always bustling with birdsong in the early morning. That day, when we arrived, the sun was already high. At the small stone tables and chairs, the forest protection force members of the enterprise were quickly drinking hot cups of tea to set off on their mission. Following them towards the hill, where green shoots are stretching to cover the bare hills. Under the dry and hot weather, the acacia and eucalyptus trees grow in rows, healthy, with fresh green leaves reaching towards the sun. Since receiving the seeds and planting them, the enterprise has paid great attention to care. Thanks to that, the survival rate of the trees has reached 90%.
Planting forests is difficult, but protecting forest land here is even more difficult and arduous. Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, Deputy Station Chief of Song Luy - Hoa Thang Forestry Station (Bac Binh) still remembers clearly the morning patrol on August 21, 2024, when he and his teammates were assaulted by illegal forest land grabbers. Mr. Tam said: “That morning, as usual, I and three colleagues patrolled the Trung Bo area, sub-area 144A, Hong Lam village - Hoa Thang commune under the forest area of Bac Binh Thuan Forestry Enterprise, and discovered that in lot 5, compartment I, Mr. PNH and his family members, residing in Luong Nam quarter, Luong Son town, Bac Binh district, brazenly used a tractor to plow the land and sow melon seeds in the land that the unit was assigned to manage. We have propagated and explained, however, Mr. H and his relatives not only did not comply, but also cursed, insulted, and disparaged the forest protection force. At the peak, he also lured many people carrying weapons such as knives, machetes, machetes, sticks... to the scene of the land encroachment area. The most reckless subjects attacked the forest protection force, causing 4 staff members in the patrol team that day to suffer injuries in many places on the head, face, and hands, requiring treatment for many days. "The area is large, the force is thin, the encroachments are reckless, so we increase our vigilance every day, in the spirit of being ready for the worst situation. And in any situation, planting forests is still the number one priority. Just seeing the forest grow green makes us happy and strive to complete our tasks well," Mr. Tam added.
Binh Thuan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. is leased land by the State and manages natural forests for production and business with a total area of over 18,000 hectares, including over 10,000 hectares of planted forests and has maintained international FSC forest certification for 8 consecutive years, including rubber, hybrid acacia and eucalyptus. Currently, the company has invested 100% of the land area, so in order to improve the productivity and quality of planted forests, in recent times, the company has focused on applying effective forest planting methods, reducing investment costs... Notably, in recent times, the company has synchronously deployed many solutions to carry out forest patrolling, management and protection work in each area; Training to improve professional capacity for forest protection forces and contracting with local people, mainly ethnic minorities living adjacent to the company's management area; regularly organizing surprise and periodic patrols and inspections to promptly prevent violations related to forest management and land management. Actively coordinate with relevant agencies in patrolling, preventing and handling cases related to forest protection and management. Along with that, the company is currently urgently focusing on completing legal documents on land to facilitate the management and protection of the company's planted forest assets as well as investing in long-term forestry projects such as issuing new and exchanging land use right certificates to stabilize production in the long term.

"We will continue to seek joint ventures and partners with financial capacity and suitable for the business line to implement the project of a raw (or refined) processing factory targeting the export market to increase the value of FSC/CoC certified plantation wood, ensuring sufficient standards for export to the Japanese and EU markets... with a minimum capacity of 50,000 tons of wood pellets/year and interior and exterior products to take advantage of available raw materials from plantation forests. In addition, approaching the Carbon Credit implementation agreement to contribute to improving the environment, increasing the company's income from the above activities", said Mr. Cuong.
