On the evening of May 4, nearly 100 tourists joined the first tour by electric car to see fireflies and wildlife at night at Cuc Phuong National Park.
According to a representative of Cuc Phuong National Park, most visitors on their first experience are very excited.
"I have been to night zoos and safaris in many places, but the experience here is different because it is completely natural. It's a bit of a pity that there weren't many fireflies yesterday," said Thanh Tung, from Ninh Binh city (Ninh Binh province).
"You can only see fireflies and animals in the forest with your naked eyes. You can't take pictures because it's dark, but it's very interesting," said another tourist.
Night tours to visit Cuc Phuong forest are organized from 7pm to 10pm, every day of the week, traveling by electric car for a distance of 5km, each car holds 10 people. Each tour lasts about 1 hour, the last tour departs at 8:45pm.
Starting from the children’s experience and creativity area, visitors will travel with a guide through the trails, watching fireflies, nocturnal wildlife such as deer, insects and exploring the nocturnal life in the forest. Visitors may also be lucky enough to observe rare animals such as pangolins, civets, binturongs, wild cats, otters and lorises. The tour also helps participants understand the work of forest rescue and conservation.
According to Mr. Pham Kien Cuong, Director of the Center for Environmental Education and Services of Cuc Phuong National Park, this is a tour product that helps educate the environment and increase understanding of nature and wildlife.
The tour is limited to about 100 visitors per session to ensure that the natural habitat of flora and fauna is not affected. "Visitors are only allowed to visit the forest edge in a circle, not entering the core area," Mr. Cuong added.
Cuc Phuong National Park’s customer service and reception department said they have received thousands of registrations since the tour was announced three days ago. Visitors buy entrance tickets for VND60,000 (adults) and VND10,000 (children under 10), then buy tours for VND100,000 (adults) and VND50,000 (children). Priority is given to guests staying overnight in the forest.
Visitors need to prepare necessary personal items such as long clothes, mosquito and insect repellent, and can bring binoculars and cameras. Information about butterfly and firefly seasons in Cuc Phuong is constantly updated on the Park's fanpage.
Cuc Phuong National Park is a nature reserve and special-use forest located in the territory of 3 provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa, the main gate is in Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh. The park has a rich flora and fauna, typical of tropical rainforests. In April and May, Cuc Phuong is in butterfly season, and the summer months are the breeding season of fireflies. These are the times that attract a lot of tourists to Cuc Phuong. Since the beginning of butterfly season, at the end of April until now, thousands of visitors have visited the park every day.
