The news report by King Abdullah and Queen Tunku Azizah quickly attracted hundreds of comments on social media. Some netizens wrote that they were proud of the king and queen's performance, including Facebook user Adrian Ratnasamy, who called them "the cutest king and queen ever."
Many took the opportunity to thank King Abdullah for his rule during a difficult period, when Malaysia was locked down to deal with Covid-19, as well as political instability when the country had four prime ministers since the 2018 general election.
King Abdullah will end his five-year term on January 31, when his successor, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar (65 years old), head of the royal family of Johor state, ascends the throne.
