On the afternoon of January 16 (local time), right after arriving in Davos, Switzerland to attend the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF Davos 2024), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a discussion with businesses on cooperation in developing artificial intelligence (AI), the automobile industry, semiconductor chips and ecosystems.

Attending the seminar were Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat; Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son; Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai.

In particular, there was the participation of leaders of many of the world's leading corporations in the technology field such as: Google, Siemens, Mahindra, Ericsson, Visa Inc, Qualcomm...

At the seminar, businesses highly appreciated Vietnam's vision in the field of technology and the process of carbon reduction, net zero emissions by 2050, green and sustainable economic development; committed to continuing to expand investment and business in Vietnam; hoped that the Vietnamese Government would continue to create conditions for businesses to continue to cooperate with Vietnamese businesses to invest and develop in the fields of technology, innovation, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, strategic infrastructure, etc.

Leaders of ministries and branches answered and discussed issues of concern to businesses; introduced Vietnam's development orientation in the fields of technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips, etc.; and introduced Vietnam's efforts in creating an increasingly favorable investment environment to attract investment, including improving policy mechanisms, infrastructure, human resources, etc. to serve investors better and better.

Sharing with major technology corporations attending the discussion on Vietnam's development and success, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that after nearly 40 years of renovation, Vietnam has maintained its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; successfully transformed from a planned, subsidized economy to a market economy; transformed from a slow-developing country to a developing country; the scale of Vietnam's economy has reached 435 billion USD, entering the top 40 leading economies in the world. People's lives have been improved, with per capita income rising from around 100 USD to 4,300 USD/person/year in 2023.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Vietnam has signed 16 free trade agreements (FTAs) with 60 of the world's largest economies, creating favorable conditions for businesses to expand their markets, connect and participate more deeply in global value chains and production networks.

Along with that, Vietnam has good diplomatic relations for peace, friendship, cooperation and development with countries, organizations and the whole world. In particular, Vietnam has comprehensive strategic partnerships with 6 countries, including China, Russia, Japan, India, South Korea and the United States.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Vietnam is implementing three strategic breakthroughs, including: a breakthrough in strategic infrastructure to reduce logistics costs and input costs for businesses; a breakthrough in human resource training and administrative reform; and a breakthrough in institutional improvement and law-making to reduce compliance costs for people and businesses.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: "These are good foundations and conditions for businesses to confidently invest and develop in Vietnam."

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is mobilizing all resources to serve the country's rapid and sustainable development, based on science, technology, and innovation; striving to become a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030; and to become a developed country with high income by 2045. Vietnam continues to renew old driving forces and create new driving forces for development.

In particular, Vietnam has built and implemented a National Strategy on research, development and application of artificial intelligence; at the same time, it has created a favorable environment for many AI enterprises in the world to develop in Vietnam in many fields such as healthcare, communications, education, cybersecurity, finance, smart factories, smart cities and semiconductor technology...

Vietnam has issued the National Strategy on Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, which includes a roadmap for converting vehicles to electric ones; encouraging vehicles to use green and clean energy.

In particular, Vietnam has a clear vision and strong determination in pursuing and developing the semiconductor industry and building an ecosystem for the semiconductor industry.

In particular, Vietnam will soon issue a Strategy for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry and a Project to Train 50,000 Semiconductor Engineers, in order to promote cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises, creating conditions to improve the quality of human resources and capacity of Vietnamese enterprises. Vietnam has been attracting more and more corporations in the semiconductor industry.

Always putting people in the development movement, with the motto "Harmony between the interests of the State, people, and enterprises", "harmonious benefits, shared risks", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that enterprises will continue to invest long-term, stably, and effectively in Vietnam and together with Vietnam successfully achieve the set goals.
