Gold prices continue to move sideways
Domestic gold prices remained unchanged for three consecutive days, while world gold prices closed the week at $2,044/ounce.

At Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the price of Mi Hong gold at the time of survey listed the price of SJC gold at 72.50 - 74.00 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
SJC gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited is also traded by the enterprise at 72.30 - 74.80 million VND/tael (buy - sell). Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Manh Hai, it is being traded at 72.00 - 75.20 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
Markets remain in a tug-of-war as investors try to predict the next move by the Federal Reserve, with markets currently pricing in a 68% chance of a first rate cut at its March monetary policy meeting, according to some analysts.
Japanese Yen exchange rate continues to fall sharply
According to a survey by Cong Thuong Newspaper, today's Japanese Yen exchange rate at Sacombank has the highest Japanese Yen buying rate and Eximbank has the lowest selling rate among banks.

At Vietcombank , the Vietcombank Japanese Yen exchange rate is 163.19 VND/JPY and the selling rate is 172.74 VND/JPY, down 1.74 VND on the buying side and down 1.85 VND on the selling side.
At Vietinbank, the Yen exchange rate decreased by 1.15 VND in both buying and selling directions, equivalent to 163.52 VND/JPY and 173.22 VND/JPY.
At BIDV Bank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate decreased by 2.18 VND in buying and 2.27 VND in selling, reaching 163.73 VND/JPY and 172.35 VND/JPY, respectively.
At Agribank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate for buying and selling is 165.10 VND/JPY and 170.28 VND/JPY - down 2.15 VND for buying and down 2.26 VND for selling.
At Eximbank, the buying price decreased by 1.8 VND and the selling price decreased by 1.84 VND, respectively at 165.36 VND/JPY and 170.11 VND/JPY.
At Techcombank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate decreased by 1.32 VND in buying and 1.38 VND in selling with prices of 161.24 VND/JPY and 172.22 VND/JPY, respectively.
At Sacombank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate decreased by 1.24 VND in the buying and selling directions, corresponding to the prices of 165.49 VND/JPY and 172.04 VND/JPY.
Oil rises, USD recovers
The world USD price tends to increase. The DXY index - measuring the strength of the USD compared to 6 major currencies - ended the week at 102.44 points, up 0.01% compared to the previous session.
World oil prices ended the last trading session of the first week of 2024 up more than 1 USD.
Oil prices rose after minutes from the US Federal Reserve meeting showed inflation was under control. Oil prices were also supported by news that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to visit the Middle East in an effort to try to contain tensions in the region.
In the domestic market, the selling prices of gasoline and oil today, January 7, are applied according to the prices at the management session on the afternoon of January 4 of the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade.
Domestic coffee continues to increase
Domestic coffee prices updated at 5:00 a.m. on January 7 continued to increase during the weekend session. Currently, the average coffee price in the Central Highlands provinces is about 67,900 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces is 68,200 VND/kg.
Specifically, the coffee purchase price in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces is quite high at 68,000 VND/kg; In Dak Nong province, coffee is purchased at the highest price of 68,200 VND/kg.
The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 67,300 VND/kg.
Coffee prices in Dak Lak province today are the highest; in Cu M'gar district, coffee is purchased at 68,200 VND/kg, and in Ea H'leo district, Buon Ho town, it is purchased at the same price of 68,300 VND/kg.
Pig prices remain quiet
Pig price today, January 7, is quiet on the weekend and recorded an average of around 50,000 VND/kg.

In the Northern region, the price of live pigs fluctuates between 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, pig prices did not record any new fluctuations and fluctuated between 48,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.
