According to this agency, recently, there has been a lot of information related to Kera vegetable candy products on the media and social networks, especially the issue of providing information and the responsibility of influencers in providing product information to consumers.
Clarifying information to protect consumers
In this situation, the National Competition Commission has conducted inspection and verification activities. Specifically, this agency has sent a document requesting Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company to provide product declaration documents, documents related to the origin, quality, advertising activities, and information communication about Kera vegetable candy products.
Along with that, the committee contacted the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Health of Dak Lak province to collect and synthesize information to serve the assessment of the incident.
In addition, the National Competition Commission has been reviewing and evaluating the case's records and information in accordance with legal provisions on consumer rights protection and relevant laws.
On the basis of synthesizing, verifying and clarifying information, in case of detecting any violations of the law, the National Competition Commission will coordinate with functional units to review and strictly handle according to current regulations.
Previously, the Kera vegetable candy brand was announced by Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company (CER); the product was widely advertised by Miss Thuy Tien, Quang Linh Vlogs and Hang Du Muc, but was criticized by public opinion for falsely advertising "1 candy equals 1 plate of vegetables", causing a storm on social networks.
On the afternoon of March 14 in Hanoi, for the first time, Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company (CER) held a meeting to provide information about the recent 'scandals'.
Mr. Le Tuan Linh - representative of CER Company - admitted the unfortunate mistakes that led to false information, affecting everyone and apologized to customers.
Quang Linh also said that immediately after the incident, he stopped livestreaming and announced that he would stop selling products for a long time to focus on his duties as a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Information is required when false advertising is detected.
When the incident occurred, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) directed an inspection of the production, announcement, and advertising conditions of Kera vegetable candy products and strictly handled violations (if any) in accordance with the law for related organizations, individuals, and units.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports said that violations will be considered and handled according to Decree No. 38/2021/ND-CP dated March 29, 2021 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions for violations in the fields of culture and advertising.
The National Competition Authority also recommends that consumers be cautious with advertising information on social networks, especially for health-related products.
Carefully research product information, origin and quality certifications before deciding to buy. When discovering advertising or providing false information, consumers need to immediately report to the authorities for timely handling.
For business organizations and individuals, providing inaccurate or incomplete information not only causes damage to consumers and affects the reputation of business organizations and individuals, but can also be considered and handled for violations according to the provisions of the law on consumer protection and related laws.
When participating in providing information about products, goods and services to consumers, influencers need to check the information and research to fully implement the responsibilities of influencers according to the provisions of the law on protecting consumer rights.
