Along with the strength of spiritual cultural tourism, Uong Bi is interested in investing in existing tourism products, researching and developing new products with high feasibility... All to increase attraction, creating a breakthrough for local tourism in the coming time.
Mr. Pham Xuan Thanh, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Uong Bi City, said that in December 2022, Uong Bi City approved the Project on Developing Uong Bi Tourism Products, period 2021 - 2025, vision to 2030. Accordingly, the task for the period 2022 - 2025 is to focus on exploiting existing strengths of tourism products, researching and developing new products with high feasibility.
In March 2022, Uong Bi City issued a plan to implement the above Project. First of all, to orient and guide tourism development, Uong Bi City pays attention to approved tourism development plans for historical relics, spiritual tourism sites, and eco-tourism. In the period of 2022-2024, Uong Bi City has allocated 3 billion VND to invest in tourism digital transformation projects, such as: Digitizing tourism resources on digital platforms, identifying Uong Bi tourism brand sets, attaching QR Codes at relic sites, visiting VR3600 Yen Tu virtual reality...
This has contributed to enriching tourism products, increasing convenience, and keeping up with the development trend of modern tourism. At the same time, the city has also mobilized significant social resources to invest in developing tourism products with over 6 billion VND, forming tourism products from capital sources of organizations, individuals, and businesses. The city also pays attention to building preferential policies at destinations to attract tourists during low seasons, promulgating open policies on preferential loans, ensuring capital safety for economic sectors participating in tourism development, reforming administrative procedures, promoting digital transformation to attract investment in tourism, focusing on training tourism human resources...
Thanks to that, after about 3 years of implementing the Project, Uong Bi City's tourism products have changed more quickly and diversified. Specifically, in the group of cultural, historical and spiritual tourism products, Uong Bi City has added 2 more provincial-level relics: Nam Mau Temple Relic (Thuong Yen Cong Commune) and Ho Mountain Cave - Xep Bang Mountain Cave Relic (Phuong Nam Ward) and the Dao Thanh Y Ethnic Cultural Space Exhibition House in Thuong Yen Cong Commune (operating from August 2024).
Regarding resort and health care tourism products, there are additional products such as foot bath, herbal bath and Dao people's cultural experience in Khe Su 2 village community tourism model (Thuong Yen Cong commune). Agricultural tourism products include Happy Farm Uong Bi (Quang Trung ward) invested and exploited by the private sector with attractive types of experiential tourism such as fishing, fruit picking, interesting folk games, check-in, and country cuisine.
In addition, ecotourism and MICE tourism products have also seen positive changes. That is, many more ecotourism products have appeared in Khe Song - Thac Bac, Phuong Hoang peak, Binh Huong peak... although not yet recognized as tourist destinations, they still attract a lot of visitors. MICE tourism is currently invested and exploited by Tung Lam Development Joint Stock Company at the historical relic and scenic spot of Yen Tu...
However, besides that, there are some limitations such as product development not commensurate with the inherent potential; exploitation of natural landscape values, agricultural economy is still limited; quality of tourism products is not consistent between tourist destinations, low connectivity... Therefore, Uong Bi is not an ideal stopover and accommodation for tourists. These are issues that need to be overcome in the coming time to implement the Project most effectively.
