On November 25, Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company said that the Da Nang Port Information Technology Department has successfully tested and applied an industrial device called eTractor in lifting and lowering containers.
This system was researched by Da Nang port this year, and the port plays the role of both the design unit and the production and assembly management unit for both hardware and software.
Industrial signal transmission equipment for tractors has just been put into use by Da Nang Port.
Accordingly, the system combines hardware development techniques and software development techniques to create a complete solution, used to receive command signals from the TOS system, then process and transmit to the terminal device to display to the driver.
In which, the software is a system that uses software based on the existing WACA model platform, a module that connects and exchanges data with the TOS system, a data processing module, a GPS positioning signal receiving module, etc.
eTractor has low price but high durability.
Hardware is a device that is processed and assembled according to industrial standards, including components: control circuit with information display function, connecting to Cloud via 4G, GPS positioning, Wifi communication, outdoor standard LED matrix panel, frame system, bracket system (device hanging system), WIFI – 4G – GPS antenna, DC-DC converter…
eTractor is made up of more than 60 large and small parts, so the machine assembly process is strictly controlled with descriptive documents and clear assembly step lists.
This helps the eTractor always meet output standards and reduce unexpected damage during use while still being able to be easily disassembled for replacement and repair.
Previously, since 2017, by researching and developing the "WACA" model, Da Nang Port for the first time applied real-time signal transmission from the Catos system to tractor trucks to operate the work.
Through long-term use, the model has shown good adaptability in the port exploitation environment, accordingly, Da Nang Port received a Certificate of Merit at the 15th Technical Innovation Contest (2018-2019) awarded by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.
However, the WACA model only stops at handling software technology barriers. The eTractor solution was born to solve problems related to hardware investment on tractors. eTractor "joined hands" with WACA to create a comprehensive overall solution.
According to the leader of Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company, currently at seaports, container lifting equipment is often equipped with industrial computers (VMC) with an average price of more than 100 million VND/device.
However, the number of tractors is always many times larger than the number of lifting equipment, some ports can have up to hundreds of vehicles. Therefore, investing in VMC machines for tractors always faces investment cost barriers, causing businesses to "hesitate" between choosing VMC machines and civil Android devices.
Through research and analysis of the advantages and disadvantages between VMC machines and civilian Android devices, it is necessary to research and create a product that ensures both durability and a more acceptable price. Da Nang Port researched and successfully tested an industrial device called eTractor.
Notably, these devices cost only 20% of industrial computers but are more durable, benefiting Da Nang Port by at least VND4 billion in a 3-year cycle.
