The fighting between the Russian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, western Russia, has entered its 10th day.

On August 15, Reuters news agency quoted Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi as saying that Kiev had established a military command office in the captured area in Kursk.
A video released by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shows Mr Syrskyi informing the leader that Kiev's forces have advanced 35km into Russia's Kursk province since launching their offensive on August 6.
On the Russian side, Defense Ministry advisor Andrey Ilnitsky announced that, entering the 10th day of fighting in Kursk, the advantage is leaning towards the Russian Armed Forces.
He accused Western special services of commanding this offensive by the Ukrainian army, stating that this was a military operation and it could not have happened “without the approval and command of Western intelligence and technology agencies.”
On the same day, TASS news agency quoted an announcement from Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov saying that he had ordered the establishment of a council to "increase the effectiveness of comprehensive support for border protection units, territories and people" in the three provinces bordering Ukraine: Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk.
The head of the Russian Defense Ministry affirmed that he is trying to solve the problem quickly and without delay.
The newly established council is tasked with ensuring the supply of weapons to units, coordinating actions in case of a threat of violation of the national border, providing engineering equipment, supporting means of evacuation of victims and medical care, and assisting civil authorities in evacuating people.
In addition, the council will take additional measures to protect border provinces from drone attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, according to Minister Belousov, the commanders have prepared a series of actions to strengthen security in the regions bordering Ukraine.
First of all, Russia will seek to increase the effectiveness of the military command and control system in interaction with other law enforcement agencies and the Belgorod regional administration, in terms of identifying responsible officials, as well as allocating additional forces and means that will be sent to perform key tasks.
