Provincial People's Committee works with Government Inspectorate Working Group

On July 8, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, received and worked with the Government Inspectorate's Working Group on the management of minerals used as construction materials.

In the past time, the province's mineral planning work has been carried out in accordance with the authority, order, viewpoints and objectives in line with the orientation of the mineral strategy. The work of zoning and approving areas where mineral exploitation rights are not auctioned has been directed by the Provincial People's Committee to review and make a list according to regulations. The granting of mineral exploration and exploitation licenses is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Minerals. From January 1, 2019 to the end of 2023, the Provincial People's Committee has granted 24 mineral exploration licenses and 37 mineral exploitation licenses. During the exploitation process, most mine owners actively completed relevant legal procedures, complied with the contents of the granted exploitation licenses and the provisions of the law.

At the meeting, members of the Working Group highly appreciated the results of the management of minerals for construction materials in Quang Ninh province recently. The Working Group requested the province to continue clarifying the content of financial obligations and state budget in the field of management of minerals for construction materials; auctioning of exploitation rights; preparing sources of construction materials for key projects; prices, freight, and transportation fees at mineral mines for construction materials serving public investment...

Comrade Nghiem Xuan Cuong accepted the comments of the members of the Working Group. He emphasized: Quang Ninh is a locality with relatively rich and diverse minerals. In recent times, the mineral exploitation industry in the province has made an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province and the whole country. In the coming time, the province will continue to pay attention to leading and directing the strengthening of management and protection of mineral resources, developing the mining industry in association with environmental protection and socio-economic development. He suggested that the Department of Natural Resources and Environment continue to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to provide working documents to the Working Group during the implementation of its tasks.
