The excitement is clearly visible on the faces of the young players, who were trusted by coach Hoang Anh Tuan to be selected for the important training session before the 2024 AFC U23 Championship.
Due to the V-League schedule, the U23 Vietnam team did not have its full squad in this training session. The last two players to join the team today are midfielder Nguyen Thai Son and striker Vo Nguyen Hoang of Thanh Hoa. Striker Nguyen Thanh Nhan unfortunately suffered a shoulder injury while playing in round 13 of the National First Division for PVF-CAND Club and left open the possibility of participating in the 2024 AFC U23 Championship. For this reason, to ensure the depth of the U23 Vietnam team, coach Hoang Anh Tuan decided to call up striker Nguyen Van Tung of Hanoi FC.
The first training session of the Vietnam U23 team took place in a rather relaxed atmosphere, with the main content being to release inertia and test the physical foundation of the players. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan also spent time encouraging and motivating his players and reminding the whole team to focus on the goal of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship, where the Vietnam U23 team will face challenges from Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Malaysia in the group stage.
After April 7, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will have two more training sessions on April 7 before leaving for Qatar to train ahead of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship on April 8. During the training period in Qatar, the team will have a friendly match with U23 Jordan on April 10.
