Exchange rate developments in the world market
The US Dollar Index (DXY) measuring the greenback's movements against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF) decreased by 0.13% to 103.24.
The US dollar fell against the euro as the German parliament approved a massive spending increase.
Accordingly, the EUR increased 0.2% to 1.0945 USD, after reaching 1.0954 USD earlier in the session, the highest level since October 10.
The euro also found support earlier after data showed German investor confidence improved further in March.
Overall, moves in currency markets were largely limited in the last trading session as investors awaited policy announcements from major central banks, including from the US Federal Reserve (Fed) today, March 19.
Meanwhile, analysts expect the Fed to keep its monetary policy stance unchanged amid concerns about persistent inflation.
Investors will look for fresh economic forecasts from Fed officials for more insight into the US central bank's view on the impact of the Trump administration's policies.
Elsewhere, the greenback hit a two-week high against the Japanese yen, before returning to 149.165 yen, ahead of the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) policy decision today (March 19).
BOJ policymakers are expected to discuss the extent of the risks that US tariff policies will pose to the Japanese economy.
Meanwhile, the Australian dollar fell 0.4% to $0.6358 after rising to its highest in about a month earlier in the week.
