Tuyen Quang strives to fix the incident of a 10m dike break in Son Duong district

Last night (September 10), a section of the Lo River dike through Quyet Thang commune, Son Duong district (Tuyen Quang) about 10 meters long broke, causing flooding for many households in Son Duong district.
The broken dike is about 10m long, bordering Quyet Thang commune of Son Duong district and Hop Nhat commune of Doan Hung district, Phu Tho province.
As of the afternoon of September 11, rocks and soil were still falling in some areas of the broken dike.

The broken dike edge belongs to Quyet Thang commune, Son Duong district. According to Quyet Thang commune leaders, the dike breach was caused by the impact of storm No. 3 and then the Lo River rose and flowed rapidly, causing part of the dike to break on the evening of September 10.
The dike break area has been fenced off and warning ropes have been put up to ensure people's safety.
Besides the broken dike section of more than 10m, some other weak locations of the dike also show signs of degradation and damage.
The carcass of a local animal floated down the river.
As of this afternoon (September 11), many households in Quyet Thang commune, Son Duong district (Tuyen Quang) are still flooded up to the roof.
In an interview with VOV reporters, Mr. Hoang Hai Truong, Vice Chairman of Son Duong district, said: Immediately after receiving information about storm Yagi, Son Duong district proactively prepared and reviewed. The district's preparations were carried out synchronously, closely checking vulnerable points. After receiving news of the dike breach, the district quickly mobilized all forces to fix it in the evening and night of September 10. So far, no human casualties have been recorded due to the dike breach.
Mr. Au Van Luan, Chairman of Quyet Thang Commune, said that the authorities quickly evacuated people in the affected area. Up to now, they are actively implementing measures to ensure safety and provide relief to people. Although the dike breach has not caused any human casualties, environmental pollution, damage to people's crops and difficult travel are major problems that Quyet Thang Commune is facing.
Mr. Vu Hong Hoa (Sai Linh village, Quyet Thang commune) said that he received very timely information through the local loudspeaker system. With the quick intervention of functional forces, government, and army, Mr. Hoa said that local people were mentally prepared and did not panic.
On the afternoon and evening of September 11, many volunteer groups were present in communes in Son Duong district to provide necessities to people.
Mr. Hoang Van Chanh (blue shirt, 34 years old, Tuyen Quang) said that immediately after receiving news of the dike break in Son Duong district, he and his relatives and friends gathered supplies such as instant noodles, bread, milk... to go to the areas in need of relief.
