On the evening of October 8, Coach Mai Duc Chung announced the list of 24 players for the Vietnamese women's team participating in the 2024 Paris Olympic qualifiers.
Huynh Nhu will not be with the Vietnamese women's team to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers.
Notably, this list does not include the name of number 1 striker Huynh Nhu.
The striker from Tra Vinh cannot join the team because he is busy playing for Lank FC.
Previously, Huynh Nhu also did not join the Vietnamese women's team at the 19th ASIAD, a tournament where the girls in red had to stop right after the group stage.
Huynh Nhu's absence is a huge loss for coach Mai Duc Chung's team.
In recent years, the star currently playing for Lank FC has always been the leading striker of the Vietnamese women's team.
Returning to the list of players this time, coach Mai Duc Chung kept all 23 players who attended the 19th ASIAD in Hangzhou (China).
In addition, he added a very new element, striker Ngoc Minh Chuyen.
Minh Chuyen and U20 Vietnam just won a ticket to the 2024 AFC U20 Championship.
The player born in 2004 is highly appreciated for his personal technique, ability to create breakthroughs and diverse finishing.
In the past, Minh Chuyen won the title of Top Scorer twice at the 2022 Southeast Asian U18 and 2023 Southeast Asian U19 tournaments.
In the second qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Vietnamese women's team is in the same group with Japan, India and Uzbekistan.
According to the schedule, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will face Uzbekistan (October 26), India (October 29) and Japan (November 1).
On October 9, the whole team will gather again in Hanoi to practice before leaving for Uzbekistan.
