AFF Women's Cup brings together many strong teams

Besides the 33rd SEA Games taking place at the end of this year (December 2025), the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship (AFF Cup) will be an attractive playground for the Vietnamese women's team to compete.

This is a tournament that coach Mai Duc Chung and his team have won three times, the most recent of which was in 2019, when Vietnam won 1-0 against host Thailand in the final thanks to a goal by striker Huynh Nhu.

AFF Women's Cup 2025 has the presence of Australia, the women's team reached the semi-finals of the World Cup 2023

The AFF Women's Cup has a history of development since 2004, with 12 editions held with quality matches from the region's top female players with outstanding talent.

In recent years, as women’s sports have become a global focus, the achievements of Southeast Asian women’s national teams have also been gradually asserted at the international level. Thailand participated in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, while Vietnam and the Philippines will participate in the 2023 World Cup.

At the 2022 Asian Cup, the Philippines finished third, while Vietnam finished fifth, meaning a ticket to the 2023 World Cup.

That creates the appeal of the 2025 AFF Women's Cup. Seven Southeast Asian teams including defending champions Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore, along with the participation of the Australian women's team (also part of the AFF), will create competitions worth watching.

Australia is a leading force in women's football, having reached the semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup after defeating many strong teams, including France, and only stopping against England on penalties. The clash with Australia will be an interesting challenge for emerging women's football teams such as Vietnam and the Philippines.

Today (March 4), the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) announced that MSIG, Southeast Asia’s leading insurance company in terms of premium revenue, has become the first title sponsor of the region’s premier international women’s football tournament, the ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup.

MSIG becoming the main sponsor of the tournament once again affirms the position and importance of Southeast Asia's top women's tournament, while further enhancing the role of women's football across the region.

“Becoming the main sponsor of the Women’s Football Championship reflects our efforts to support women’s football, especially in Vietnam, where the national women’s team has achieved remarkable success,” said Mr. Katsumi Kuzuno, General Director of MSIG Vietnam.

This partnership underlines our commitment to growing the women’s game, empowering girls and promoting gender equality. By supporting female athletes and their aspirations, we hope to inspire confidence and aspiration in women, regardless of their role.”
