Hung Lo Commune (Viet Tri City) is a bustling land "on the wharf, under the boat" with a rich culture and traditional craft villages, one of which is the production of rice noodles. Entering the market economy with economic and technical pressure and increasingly fierce competition from major domestic and international brands, but Hung Lo people are determined to stick with the profession, "change their thinking, change their way of doing things", maintain quality, gradually build up reputation and competitiveness in the market. Up to now, Hung Lo rice noodles have reached "difficult" markets in the world.

In the 80s and 90s of the last century, up to 90% of the people in Doan Ket village (now zone 4, Hung Lo commune) were engaged in rice noodle production. However, families did it spontaneously, the scale and quality were not guaranteed, the quantity of noodles produced was too large compared to the consumption demand, so there was a backlog, affecting the product quality, the reputation of the village and price competition, making the income of the workers unstable...

By 2004, when it was recognized as the "Doan Ket Agricultural and Food Processing Craft Village", the village had only a few households trying to maintain the craft by investing in improving equipment systems and production processes to sell products, continue to work and stick with the local traditional craft. At the end of 2016, on the basis of Hung Lo rice noodle production as the foundation, many people "knew the job", grasped the production process, combined with the sharing of production experiences of many people, which would help expand the scale of production more easily, creating products of consistent quality, Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative was officially established.

Mr. Cao Dang Duy - Director of Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative is a pioneer in researching, exploring, and applying modern equipment and machinery to production combined with traditional recipes to create delicious, high-quality rice noodle products. In August 2017, Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative was assigned to manage and use the Hung Lo rice noodle collective trademark certificate. After nearly 10 years of establishment, the Cooperative has boldly invested in factories, purchased machinery and equipment, improved productivity and product quality, improved packaging, implemented many market access solutions, and standardized quality standards such as HACCP, ISO 9001-2015. Hung Lo rice noodle products are available in all provinces and cities across the country through a system of retail agents and large supermarkets such as: Go!, Tops market, BigC, Vinmart, Coopmart... In addition, the products are sold online on e-commerce platforms for easy access by consumers.

Hung Lo rice noodles are highly appreciated by consumers thanks to their chewy, delicious noodles and the aroma of the countryside. Up to now, the Cooperative has nearly 10 types of products such as: Rice noodles; Pho noodles; Watermelon noodles; Vegetable noodles; Premium gift noodle boxes; Dong vermicelli... Of which, there are 3 noodle products that are rated as 4-star OCOP products including: Hung Lo rice noodles born from the village; Special Hung Lo rice noodles; Special Hung Lo pho noodles. The Cooperative has completed the application for 5-star OCOP classification for the product "Hung Lo clean rice noodles born from the village". In 2024, the Cooperative will consume an average of 50-60 tons of rice noodles per month, with a revenue of more than 20 billion VND/year, creating regular jobs for 35 workers with an income of 6.5 million VND/person/month. At the same time, the Cooperative also links, provides technical support and consumes products for many noodle-producing households in the area. With innovation and creativity, the product "Hung Lo clean rice noodles born from the village" was honored and received the first Mai An Tiem award in 2024 organized by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance.

To ensure the quality and stability of input materials, the Provincial Cooperative Union has supported and guided 4 cooperatives to organize rice production according to VietGAP standards with a total area of ​​643 hectares and a number of cooperatives in the province signed a contract to supply rice to Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative with a purchase price of 500 - 700 VND/kg higher than the market price. At the same time, the cooperative closely monitors the production stages according to the closed production process, strictly ensuring food hygiene and safety.

In order to affirm the prestige and quality of the Hung Lo Rice Noodles brand, expand the market, and enhance product value, the Cooperative's Board of Directors has also proactively diversified products, sought to expand export markets, focusing on the criteria of quality products, good prices, meeting related technical requirements and suitable for the culture and tastes of developed countries. Actively participate in trade promotion activities to find partners and develop international markets. In 2024, the Cooperative supplied 30 tons of noodle products for export to the Japanese market. By January 2025, an additional 5 tons of rice noodles were exported to the Taiwan market (China).

Mr. Cao Dang Duy - Director of Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative shared: In the coming time, the Cooperative will register and complete the necessary licenses such as EFSA, FDA, CE. Focus on building the brand, developing different product lines such as gluten-free rice noodles, rice noodles made from organic ingredients or noodles for dieters... build an effective supply chain, ensure product quality during transportation, promote products on e-commerce platforms and participate in international trade promotion conferences. Increase product value, affirm the brand in the market, contribute to preserving and promoting traditional crafts, improve the material and spiritual life of cooperative members and people of Hung Lo craft village.
