Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School become specialized schools

Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School have decided to become specialized high schools instead of public high schools with specialized classes as they are now.

Today, January 15, the Hanoi People's Committee has just issued decisions to reorganize Chu Van An High School into Chu Van An High School for the Gifted (under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training), and Son Tay High School into Son Tay High School for the Gifted. The decisions take effect from the date of signing.

Specifically, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School are two public general education institutions in the national education system and in the general school system of Hanoi, organized and operated in compliance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for specialized high schools as prescribed.

The school is under the direct and comprehensive direction and management of the Department of Education and Training and other relevant agencies of Hanoi.

Also according to the above decisions, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School are entitled to the regimes and policies of specialized high schools according to the provisions of Circular No. 05/2023/QD-BGDDT dated February 28, 2023 of the Ministry of Education and Training on promulgating the Regulations on organization and operation of specialized high schools and according to current regulations.

Before the above decision, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School were normal public high schools but had specialized classes. When developing the project to become specialized high schools, these schools stated that in reality, because they still operated as non-specialized high schools but performed the tasks of specialized schools, the schools had some difficulties such as a lack of teachers to teach some specialized subjects; no scholarship policy and reward system for students and teachers of specialized classes; lack of funding for training and fostering students.

Thus, after becoming a specialized high school, investment resources for the school as well as policies for teachers and students will be improved and more favorable.

According to the project to build Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School into specialized schools, the other specialized class models of these schools (general, bilingual, dual degree) will continue to be maintained until the students graduate from high school.
