On May 31, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism held a conference on “Implementing ASEAN tourism standards” for tourism units, tourism accommodation service businesses, and business establishments that meet standards for serving tourists.
At the conference, delegates shared and studied the main contents such as: ASEAN tourism standards, environmental protection, climate change response in tourism activities, digital transformation solutions in businesses... Businesses need to meet 8 ASEAN tourism standards including: Green hotels, homestays, community tourism, sustainable tourism products, MICE venues, clean tourist cities, public toilets and spa services.

Through the conference, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism hopes that each enterprise will proactively develop a plan on time and roadmap for applying ASEAN tourism standards. Enterprises need to evaluate the effectiveness and capacity of the staff and workers working at tourist accommodation establishments, to continue to maintain and promote professional ethics, work attitude, and increase the level of satisfaction of tourists. From there, contribute to optimizing the management and business of tourism enterprises in the city.

The implementation process also helps equip professional knowledge for human resources, regularly upgrading utility services to meet the increasing needs of tourists”.

The application of ASEAN tourism standards will ensure that tourism activities in the city are carried out sustainably and continuously improve international integration. In addition, the city can minimize negative impacts on the environment and maintain a harmonious balance between tourism development and environmental protection, adapting to climate change.
