(HTV) - Thu Duc City People's Committee and Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture held an announcement ceremony for the international competition "Ideas for planning the National Historical and Cultural Park". The total prize value is up to 3 billion VND.
The competition consists of 1 round, in the form of an international competition. Participants are companies, organizations, consortia or individuals who are knowledgeable in the field of planning and design, architecture, have experience in project development, park management and operation, have sufficient operational capacity, reputation, and relevant practical experience according to regulations.
The competition plans must demonstrate a long-term vision, be creative, feasible and meet the criteria of planning, architecture, landscape and function. The ideas must be linked to historical preservation, cultural and tourism development, sustainable transportation, and harmonize economic factors and community benefits.
Ms. Luong Thu Anh - Head of Central Area Planning Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture said: "Finding the most feasible ideas to enhance the landscape value, connecting the traffic of the national historical and cultural park with public transport metro No. 1 and connecting the landscape of Dong Nai river".
Based on the results of the competition, the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City will coordinate with the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, the Management Board of the National Historical and Cultural Park and related units to advise the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to consider and direct the selection of important contents, in line with the general development orientation of the city, as a basis for organizing the establishment and adjustment of the 1/2000 scale zoning plan of the National Historical and Cultural Park, Ms. Thu Anh added.
By 2040, the National Historical - Cultural Park is planned with the main functions of a public park and a multi-functional thematic park, interspersed with a number of mixed service functional areas.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Center for Architectural Research, Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City, through the contest, it is expected that good ideas will be selected to help the city promote investment in the construction of a very meaningful thematic park, a place to educate the national cultural and historical traditions, and create a new development momentum for Thu Duc City.
The National Historical - Cultural Park was approved and formed in the 1990s, including 4 functional areas associated with different themes, introducing historical events and typical cultural works of the nation from the time of the Hung Kings to the Ho Chi Minh era.
The contest is expected to select good ideas to help the city promote investment in building a meaningful thematic park, a place to educate about national cultural and historical traditions.
In addition, there are also a number of cultural activities, entertainment areas and impressive natural landscapes with a synchronous transportation system and infrastructure, suitable for sustainable development needs. Area of about 390ha.
According to the general planning orientation of Thu Duc City until 2040, the National Historical - Cultural Park is planned with the main functions of a public park and a multi-functional thematic park, interspersed with a number of mixed service functional areas.
Application period is from February 27 to March 13, 2025. Results are expected to be announced in May 2025.
