In 2024, the situation of fires, explosions, accidents and incidents will be extremely unpredictable and dangerous, with fires, explosions, accidents and incidents causing great damage to people and property. On the other hand, the hot summer season is the peak time for fires, explosions, accidents and incidents when the temperature increases, the dry weather is a factor leading to potential risks of fires, explosions, accidents and incidents, such as: electrical short circuits, electrical equipment failures, people's carelessness in daily life and production and business activities greatly affecting fire prevention and control work in general and forest fire prevention and control work in particular.
Faced with the above situation, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force has proactively implemented drastic professional measures, proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Police to issue documents directing and providing professional guidance on fire prevention and rescue work. Strictly and effectively implemented the directives of leaders at all levels on strengthening fire prevention and rescue work in the new situation. From there, proactively grasp the situation, develop programs and plans, synchronously deploy professional measures, promptly handle emerging issues in fire prevention and rescue work. Thereby, contributing to ensuring good security, order, and fire prevention and rescue safety to serve the socio-economic development of the locality.

Fire drills
Last year, the unit assisted the Provincial Police Department in advising the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to issue 19 documents (6 plans, 10 official dispatches, 1 report, 2 decisions). Advised the Party Committee and the Provincial Police Department to issue 197 documents directing the police of units and localities to implement the task of ensuring fire safety and rescue. In particular, advised on organizing the Fire Fighting and Rescue Competition "Fire Safety Joint Team" at district and provincial levels. At the same time, arranged forces and means to ensure security, order and fire safety for 30 political, cultural and social events, festival activities, and working delegations of Party and State leaders visiting and working in An Giang. Coordinated with media agencies to broadcast 8,465 news reports on fire safety and rescue on radio stations of communes, wards and towns; wrote and posted 44 news and articles on fire safety and rescue; Developed 19 reports on fire prevention and fighting and rescue work; organized 2,865 oral propaganda sessions on fire prevention and fighting, attracting 115,753 listeners. Distributed 8,756 leaflets recommending fire prevention and fighting and rescue. Propaganda and guidance on fire prevention and fighting and rescue work, with 2,077 participants; organized propaganda, experience and practice activities on fire fighting and rescue, with 21,271 participants. Organized training on State management of fire prevention and fighting and rescue for 468 officials of the People's Committee and the Commune Police. Through periodic fire prevention and fighting safety inspections of 2,472 establishments, decisions were made to administratively sanction 39 cases (29 organizations, 10 individuals), with a total amount of nearly 140 million VND...
Lieutenant Colonel Vo Phuc Tho, Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, said that in the coming time, the unit will strengthen inspection and guidance on measures to ensure fire prevention and fighting safety at facilities and residential areas at high risk of fire and explosion; resolutely and strictly handle violations of fire prevention and fighting laws. Continue to advise on the effective implementation of the Project "Building a truly clean, strong, disciplined, elite, and modern Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force"; Project on Fire Prevention and Fighting Infrastructure Planning for the period 2021 - 2030; vision to 2050. Innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of propaganda, inspection, and guidance on fire prevention and fighting safety at key facilities and locations. Based on the results of investigation, review, and classification of areas and facilities at high risk of fire and explosion, organize inspections to promptly detect and request facilities to immediately correct shortcomings and deficiencies in fire prevention and fighting work to prevent and combat fires and explosions. Organize the development and practice of fire fighting and rescue plans at areas and facilities. Continue to provide professional training for officers and soldiers. Strictly implement the work of being on standby to fight fires; promptly and effectively handle fires, explosions, and accidents that occur.
In 2024, there were 19 fires in the province, killing one person; estimated property damage was over 20 billion VND. The causes of 14 fires have been investigated and clarified (9 electrical system failures; 5 careless use of fire); the causes of the remaining 5 fires are under investigation. |
