Ho Chi Minh City organizes scientific conference "Ho Chi Minh City - Achievements of 50 years of construction, protection and development"

(PLVN) - On March 25, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee organized a scientific workshop "Ho Chi Minh City - Achievements in 50 years of construction, protection and development" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Speaking at the workshop, comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, emphasized the proud achievements over 50 years of building, protecting and developing the city. The results that the city has achieved today are thanks to the timely and consistent leadership and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly, the Government, and the wholehearted and effective support of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, departments, branches and central organizations.

At the same time, this is also the crystallization of the efforts of leaders, cadres and soldiers of all periods and the companionship, support and joint efforts of all classes of people of the city over the past time to have Ho Chi Minh City today - a city with a new look, new vitality, new stature, a civilized, modern and affectionate city.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi hopes that through this important Workshop, there will be many dedicated and practical contributions, enriching the mettle, knowledge and practical capacity in the leadership and direction of the Party Committee and the management and operation of the City government; strengthening the strength of the entire political system, closely attached to the people, relying on the people to build, protect and develop a civilized, modern, and affectionate Ho Chi Minh City, always worthy of being the City named after beloved Uncle Ho - the Heroic City.

After the speech of comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi, the delegates presented opinions and discussions focusing on promoting the value, historical significance and valuable lessons of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 in the cause of building and developing a civilized, modern and affectionate Ho Chi Minh City with the motto "Ho Chi Minh City for the whole country, the whole country for Ho Chi Minh City" .

Some presentations also highlighted the achievements of innovation and development of the city over the past 50 years (1975 - 2025) in various fields; continuing to maintain its role as a major center of economy, culture, education - training, science - technology, with an important political position in the country, having the power to spread and promote the development of the Southeast region and the Southern key economic region; soon becoming an economic, financial, service, cultural, education - training, science - technology and innovation center of Southeast Asia and Asia, with global competitiveness.

Currently, the city is synchronously implementing tasks and solutions to build a national defense, contributing to strengthening the national defense strength in both potential and posture; improving the quality and effectiveness of the movement "All people protect national security", and crime prevention and control. Foreign affairs and international cooperation activities are constantly expanding, contributing to mobilizing investment resources for socio-economic development, enhancing the position and prestige of the country and the city...

On that basis, the City Party Committee constantly builds a united, exemplary, clean and strong Party Committee and political system; builds a contingent of cadres with steadfast political will, pure moral qualities, high qualifications, dynamism, creativity, daring to think and act for the common good; promotes democracy, social consensus, self-reliance, self-improvement, resilient revolutionary tradition, solidarity and affection of the locality.

In addition, many delegates pointed out the shortcomings and limitations in various fields; the causes that need to be overcome; the practical experiences that need to be drawn and proposed breakthrough tasks and problems that need to be implemented in the coming time. This will be the solution to mobilize the combined strength, effectively exploit the potentials, advantages, strategic positions, arouse pride in the revolutionary tradition, heroism, pioneering innovation, dynamism, creativity of cadres, party members, union members, association members and all classes of people in the city. Thereby, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City worthy of the trust and expectations of the people; compatriots at home and abroad and international friends.

Also attending the conference were General Le Hong Anh - former Standing Member of the Secretariat; Former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan; Former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Huynh Dam; Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University Vu Hai Quan... and more than 300 other delegates.

During the organization process, the Organizing Committee of the Conference received more than 100 presentations and many opinions from leaders and former leaders of Central agencies, provinces and cities; veteran revolutionaries; leaders of the City from different periods; districts, departments, branches, sectors, organizations of the City, scientists and researchers.

Immediately after the Workshop, the Workshop Organizing Committee said that they will continue to select and edit the papers and speeches to publish them into a book as soon as possible.
