The Floating Market Delicacies Festival operates from 9am to 10pm every day. Locals and tourists get tickets at gate 1 Hoang Sa to experience boating and dining on the canal. Accordingly, a combo ticket includes 1 boat ticket (with insurance) and 3 food tickets, costing about 200,000 VND. Nhieu Loc Boat Company is responsible for operation, ensuring safety factors when visiting waterway tourism.
The organizers expect to welcome 1,000 - 1,500 visitors per day, increasing gradually towards the end of the festival. To avoid queuing, the organizers have a fanpage for guests to book tickets in advance, and groups of guests can buy tickets in the morning to be arranged to experience the floating market at different times.
Experience the floating market on the banks of Nhieu Loc canal: Unique Southern cuisine
Tourists will travel by boat from District 3 or District 1 wharf along Nhieu Loc canal to enjoy the scenery on both sides, then the boat will stop at the floating market area for shopping and dining.
On the first day, the floating market delicacy festival attracted a large number of locals and tourists because of its novelty and liveliness.
"The festival will last for 9 days, so we expect that with 7 ships, every 30 minutes/trip there will be about 60 - 80 guests getting off the ship," said Ms. Tran Ngoc Nguyet Que, representative of the Organizing Committee.
River tourism is a specialty in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces. The organizers hope that if the floating market delicacies festival is successful and receives the love of locals and tourists, they will try to maintain and organize it monthly.
To avoid turning the floating market food festival into a fried fish ball festival, the organizers invited chef Do Nguyen Hoang Long, The Vice President of the Vietnam Young Chefs Association came up with ideas and designed dishes with the theme having a strong Southern flavor.
Chef Hoang Long and his colleagues and volunteers have prepared 15 delicious traditional dishes such as steamed snails with An Giang leaves, snail curry, Western duck noodle soup, Khmer fried rice cakes, etc. He himself also directly cooks on the boats to prepare the dishes, and at the same time interacts with tourists about Southern cuisine.
" Through this event, Long wants to share and elevate the snail eating culture of the Southern people, with many colorful experiences and unique flavors. The menu of 15 dishes will be distributed evenly across 3 boats. I have prepared and arranged young chefs, volunteers... to serve the people and tourists during the 9 days of the festival," said chef Long.
In addition to the cuisine on the boat, on the Nhieu Loc canal embankment, the floating market delicacy festival also has a "Souvenir handicraft product space" - a place to display toys made from familiar coconut leaves, jewelry made from coconut shells for customers to buy as souvenirs; or a "Green living experience space" with jewelry products, indoor landscape decorations such as potted plants and utensils made from recycled materials.
