Khoi My is a specialty store located on a barge (raft house) with an area of about 200 m2. The raft house is located on the river, about 20 m from the shore and the water level is about 5 m deep.
Next to the raft house, the facility has an extension, reinforcing the nose with wooden and iron planks (called the raft house nose) for tourists to step from the cruise ship to the stop to visit and buy specialties.
At the meeting with the inspection team, Mr. Tran Chi (36 years old, owner of Khoi My facility) reported the incident of the houseboat collapsing, causing many tourists to fall into the river on the morning of February 16.

At that time, there were about 100 passengers on the raft. The number of passengers gathered at the raft's bow waiting for the boat to pick them up was so large that part of the raft's bow collapsed, causing passengers to fall into the water.
The bow of the raft house collapsed on February 16 due to the large number of visitors.
When the incident occurred, the tourist boats promptly assisted and brought the tourists safely ashore. After the incident, the Traffic Police Department of Can Tho City Police came to work with the owner of the facility and made a record, suspending the operation.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang On, Chief Inspector of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, said that through inspection, the facility had a number of violations such as: not fully implementing business conditions, the barge had an expired inspection certificate and did not ensure safety conditions for tourists.
