This is the first time the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards and Snooker Federation (HBSF) has hosted a pool tournament for students in the city. The tournament is in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) and Phuc Thinh Billiards Group.
The tournament became a meaningful milestone, marking the development of billiards movement in schools in Ho Chi Minh City as well as the efforts to build a more professional tournament system for students of HBSF.
Also on the opening day of the tournament, student players had an exchange with 2023 national pool champion Nguyen Hoang Minh Tai and 5-time national female champion Bui Xuan Vang.
Young players also had some friendly matches, learned from professional pool players, and achieved many successes.

The tournament took place from March 27 to 30 with the participation of nearly 250 players (32 female players) in 2 categories of men's 9-ball pool and women's 9-ball pool. Among them were some outstanding faces such as female player Le Duy Nam Anh, the reigning champion of the 2024 UEF Olympic tournament, runner-up of the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City A1 Billiards Tournament.
In the women's pool 9 category, there is the appearance of beautiful player Ma Thi Anh, who defeated the reigning national champion Bui Xuan Vang in the HBSF Tour system as well as a number of potential players with achievements in amateur tournaments.
In terms of format, the men's 9-ball pool event from the qualifying round to the round of 16 will be played with 5 wins and from the quarter-finals to the final, with 6 wins. The women's 9-ball pool event will be played with 4 wins from the qualifying round to the round of 16 and 5 wins from the quarter-finals to the final. Both events will be played with 9 low balls, 3 balls in the kitchen and alternate breaks.
Regarding the prizes, the men's pool category has a champion of 12 million VND and a trophy. The runner-up receives 6 million VND and the two third-place players receive 3 million VND. The players ranked 5-8 and 9-16 receive 1 million and 500,000 VND respectively. For the women's pool category, the champion receives 8 million VND. The runner-up receives 4 million VND and the two third-place players receive 2 million VND. The players ranked 5-8 receive 500,000 VND.
