Recently, the working delegation of the Institute of Nutrition (Ministry of Health) led by Associate Professor, Dr. Truong Tuyet Mai - Deputy Director of the Institute had a working session with the Department of Health on the supervision and technical support of nutrition improvement activities in the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025 in Ha Giang province.

In the period of 2021 - 2025, the rate of malnutrition in children under 6 years old in the province has improved, the rate of stunting in children under 5 years old has decreased by 1.77%, reaching 88% of the assigned target; the rate of micronutrient supplementation in children and pregnant women has reached 70 - 80%, the rate of children from 6 - 23 months old receiving adequate supplementary food has increased by over 3% annually,... The above results show that the intervention of nutrition care activities under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Ha Giang province is very necessary, the initial interventions have had positive changes, indicators of health care and nutrition for mothers and children have improved better every year and it is estimated that by 2025, over 90% of the targets assigned by the Ministry of Health will be completed.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Institute of Nutrition (Ministry of Health) Truong Tuyet Mai praised, acknowledged and highly appreciated the results that Ha Giang has achieved in recent years. At the same time, she requested that in the coming time, the Department of Health continue to direct and coordinate with departments, branches, sectors and organizations to strengthen supervision and support; purchase nutritional products in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Bidding; develop a project to be included in a specific resolution for implementation in the period 2026 - 2030; improve capacity as well as have preferential policies for population collaborators; strengthen health education and communication for adolescents, pregnant and lactating mothers, etc.
Also at the meeting, the representative of Ha Giang Department of Health hoped that in the coming time, the Institute of Nutrition would advise the Ministry of Health to provide multi-micronutrient products for distribution to the province; the Institute would create conditions for technical support; and mobilize resources from sponsors to support Ha Giang province in the coming time.
