Beautiful female billiard player wins dramatic championship of Ho Chi Minh City student billiards pool tournament

Previously in the semi-final, Pham Thuy Quynh defeated Vietnamese-Korean player Vo Lee Song Nghi with a score of 5-2. Mach Tuyet Thanh narrowly defeated Nguyen Minh Thu with a score of 5-4.

In the final match, Tuyet Thanh had the advantage when she quickly took a 2-0 lead. Immediately after that, Thuy Quynh also won 2 games to equalize the score 2-2. In the following minutes, the two players played a tug-of-war, creating a very attractive match, bringing the score to 4-4.

In the deciding game, the turning point came when Tuyet Thanh made a mistake that caused the cue ball to fall into the pocket when there was only the 9th ball left on the table. Taking advantage of the opportunity to place the ball, Thuy Quynh put the last ball into the pocket to win dramatically with a score of 5-4.

With this result, Pham Thuy Quynh won the championship, receiving 8 million VND and the cup. Runner-up Mach Tuyet Thanh received 4 million VND. The two third-place players, Nguyen Minh Thu and Vo Lee Song Nghi, received 2 million VND. In addition, the four players who made it to the quarterfinals received 500,000 VND, including Bao Ngoc Tuong Van, Ma Tu Loi, Nguyen Tran Thu Ngan and Pham Bao Ngoc.

Sharing on the podium, Pham Thuy Quynh said: "This is the first time I have won a tournament. I am very happy and surprised. Today I am satisfied with what I have done."

In the final match of the men's 9-ball pool event taking place at the same time, Vu Quang Khai showed his mettle when he overwhelmingly defeated Nguyen Minh Quan with a score of 6-2. This was a match in which Minh Quan led 1-0 but then Quang Khai took advantage of the opportunity to reverse the situation before ending the match with a beautiful "clearing the table" game.

With the championship, Vu Quang Khai received 12 million VND and the cup. Nguyen Minh Quan received 6 million VND for second place. Duong Tran Nhat Minh and Nguyen Thanh Tuyen tied for third place, receiving 3 million VND.

In addition, players ranked 5-8, Luong Van Tien, Nguyen Hoang Khanh Dang, Nguyen Van Thuan and Pham Thanh Phong, and players ranked 9-16, received 1 million and 500,000 VND respectively.

Thus, after 4 days of exciting competition, the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Student Billiards Pool Tournament Phuc Thinh Cup, coordinated by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance with the main sponsorship from Phuc Thinh Billiards Group, ended successfully.

The tournament became a meaningful milestone, marking the development of billiards in schools in Ho Chi Minh City in particular as well as the efforts to build a more professional tournament system for students of HBSF in general, to affirm the development of the pool movement.
