Warm Tet for people and union members

According to Mr. Le Van Thinh - Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the City plans to organize activities to visit the Martyrs' Cemetery; meet veteran revolutionary cadres and intellectuals; organize delegations to visit and wish a happy new year to families of people with meritorious services and social protection beneficiaries; give gifts to families with preferential policies; and take care of Tet for workers and laborers.

The total estimated budget is about 975 billion VND. Of which, the central budget is about 16.5 billion VND; the city budget is about 908 billion VND; and mobilized more than 50 billion VND.

Ho Chi Minh City has also directed trade unions at all levels to pay attention to taking care of union members with an expected care of over 500,000 cases, costing about 500 billion VND.

According to 6 programs of activities for the Tet At Ty period implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation (HLF), tens of thousands of households, individual union members, employees, and union members were supported to celebrate Tet. Notably, the program "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Doan Ket" took care of 15,000 union member households in difficult circumstances, with priority given to union members at enterprises with unpaid wages, social insurance debts, union members affected by storms and floods in the northern provinces who were not eligible to return home for Tet with a care level of 1.8 million VND/household.

The program "Workers' Festival - Charity Fair" with the theme "Encouraging cashless payments" will give vouchers or purchase codes (worth 1 million VND/voucher) to 9,500 union members and employees; The meeting program will give gifts to 5,000 union members in difficult circumstances (each person will receive 700,000 VND in cash and gifts worth 300,000 VND)...

6 activities to take care of Tet for union members and workers in Ho Chi Minh City

According to the Plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, 6 activities to take care of Tet At Ty 2025 include:

Work with employers to develop plans for paying salaries and bonuses for employees during Tet. Coordinate with competent authorities to inspect and supervise employers in implementing legal regulations on salary and bonus regimes during Tet. Strengthen dialogue and negotiation activities on the content of caring for the material and spiritual life of union members and employees during Tet. Detect and prevent labor disputes and illegal work stoppages arising before, during and after Tet; participate in timely and effective handling, contributing to ensuring security and order in the locality.

The program "City workers remember the merits of families and relatives of those who have contributed to the revolution" will also take place before Tet. Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation will join the leaders of the Party, State and Ho Chi Minh City to visit and wish a Happy New Year to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, seriously wounded and sick soldiers, families of martyrs, cadres, union members, and workers who have made many contributions to the development of the country and the City, families of union members in especially difficult circumstances, and workers who are performing tasks at key projects in the City.

Meetings, gift giving, and New Year greetings for the “3-generation family” of workers who have worked and been with the company for over 20 years, and have made many contributions to the development of the company and the City, will also take place on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Snake.

“Traditional” programs to take care of workers during Tet will also be organized by Trade Unions at all levels in Ho Chi Minh City:
- The program "Ticket of love - Tet reunion" supports all or part of bus tickets, train tickets, and plane tickets for union members and employees who want to return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet and return to work safely, conveniently, and thoughtfully.
- Program "Worker families celebrate Tet with the City"; "Spring bus trip" for union members and freelance workers.
- Union welfare program "Love Fair - Reunion Tet" in online and in-person forms, "Shopping festival, cashless payment".
- Program "Happy Tet - Solidarity Spring".
- "Thank you to workers" program; taking care of 95,000 union members and workers.
- Awarding 95 union shelters as the City Union joined hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the City in 2025.

Along with programs to care for material things, cultural and spiritual activities for union members and workers will also take place on the occasion of Tet At Ty. Such as the Spring Festival, the Banh Chung and Banh Tet cooking contest, the Mai and Peach blossom decoration contest, the Landscape decoration contest at boarding houses. Meeting "Workers celebrate Tet with the City" at boarding houses; visiting and wishing the boarding house owners a good Tet for exempting and reducing rents to accompany workers, building "green, clean, fire-safe" boarding houses; the "Tet for children" program.

Communication about Tet care activities for union members and workers will take place widely, along with activities to mobilize units and businesses to give tickets and discounts (for spring flower festivals, cinemas, theaters, etc.) to workers, contributing to bringing union members and workers in the City a full and warm Tet.
