US President Joe Biden is expected to visit Vietnam from September 10-11. This will be Mr. Biden's first official visit to Vietnam since taking office.
On August 29, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that US President Joe Biden is expected to visit Vietnam from September 10-11 at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong .

"We believe that the visits by the two countries' senior leaders will further deepen the Vietnam-US relationship, bringing the bilateral relationship to stable, substantive and long-term development in all areas, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region as well as in the world," said Ms. Hang.
During his visit to Vietnam, President Biden will meet with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other key leaders to discuss ways to deepen cooperation between the United States and Vietnam, according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
The two leaders will also explore opportunities to promote the development of Vietnam's economy with a focus on technology and innovation, expand people-to-people ties through educational exchanges and workforce development programs, combat climate change, and enhance peace, prosperity and stability in the region.
Previously, on the evening of March 29, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had a high-level phone call with President Joe Biden.
The two leaders expressed their pleasure at having the opportunity to exchange views on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the results achieved in the relationship between the two countries are in line with the aspirations of the people of the two countries.
US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper said that since the beginning of the year, up to a quarter of the US cabinet has visited Vietnam, a US aircraft carrier has docked at Da Nang port, and many US businesses and investors have come to Hanoi, showing that Washington attaches great importance to the Vietnam-US relationship.
