Ho Chi Minh City: Proposal to establish a high school in an area with pressure to enroll 10th graders

As part of the 4,500 classroom project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification day, and to meet the demand for learning space for 10th grade students in the area and neighboring areas in the 2025-2026 school year, the People's Committee of Binh Tan District has proposed to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City to establish a high school in time to prepare for the new school year.

- Ảnh 1. — The campus of Binh Tri Dong B Secondary School is being proposed by the People's Committee of Binh Tan District to be temporarily lent to Binh Tri Dong B High School when there is a decision to establish and operate.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Binh Tan District proposed the Department of Education and Training to advise the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to issue a decision to establish Binh Tri Dong B High School in 2025 (expected to start construction in April 2025) in time to prepare for the 10th grade enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year.

Supplement the 10th grade enrollment plan for the 2025-2026 school year while waiting for the decision to establish the school and appoint management staff. Including the allocation of the number of 10th grade enrollments for Binh Tri Dong B High School, assigning the Admissions Council of An Lac High School to support the 10th grade enrollment and hand over students to Binh Tri Dong B High School when the official establishment decision is made.

Regarding the location and facilities serving teaching and learning activities for the 2025-2026 school year of Binh Tri Dong B High School during the construction period, the People's Committee of Binh Tan District proposed to temporarily borrow a classroom from Binh Tri Dong B Secondary School at 19 Ten Lua extended street, Binh Tri Dong B ward, Binh Tan district, to organize teaching and learning activities.

At the same time, Binh Tan District authorities proposed to consider appointing Mr. Tran Minh Kha, Deputy Head of the Binh Tan District Department of Education and Training, currently in charge of the district's Department of Education and Training, to take on the role of Principal of Binh Tri Dong B High School.

Based on the proposal of the People's Committee of Binh Tan District, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that he had consulted the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to request the policy of establishing and implementing enrollment right in the new school year for Binh Tri Dong B High School. Thus, when the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City approves, this district will have 6 high schools and the rate of students studying at public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City will reach about 80%.

The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training acknowledged that Binh Tan is an area that is always under great pressure every year in terms of enrollment at the beginning of the school year, including enrollment in grade 10 due to high urbanization rate and increasing population pressure. Having an additional high school is very good news, because it will reduce enrollment pressure and increase opportunities for children of migrant workers to study in public schools.
