Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son gave an interview to The Gioi and Viet Nam Newspaper ahead of the fourth Summit of the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) taking place in Hanoi.
Deputy Prime Minister, could you please tell us the significance of Vietnam hosting the fourth P4G Summit?
The P4G Summit with the theme “People-centered, sustainable green transformation” will be held in Hanoi from April 14-17. This is the first multilateral summit in the field of green growth, green transformation and sustainable development that Vietnam has hosted.
In the context of sustainable development and green transformation being inevitable trends and strategic choices of countries, this P4G Summit is an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its strong commitments in implementing the United Nations' sustainable development goals as well as its determination to work with the international community to promote green and sustainable transformation strategies at the national, regional and global levels.
The organization of the Conference also aims to concretize the policies and viewpoints of the Party and State of Vietnam on foreign affairs, deepen relations between Vietnam and its partners, enhance the position and role of Vietnam in multilateral mechanisms, thereby mobilizing international resources for development, especially in climate change response, green transformation, digital transformation, science and technology, and innovation.

Besides, in the context of Vietnam entering a new era, an era of national growth, this is also an opportunity for us to affirm the correct path of the Party and State of Vietnam in sustainable development, "not sacrificing progress, social justice and the environment to pursue pure economic growth"; green growth must contribute to promoting economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation, in order to achieve economic prosperity, environmental sustainability and social justice.
Through organizing this Conference, we hope to convey to the international community the message of a Vietnam that is determined and striving to transform its growth model, promote rapid and sustainable development, its achievements and strong economic development potential as well as the country's unique cultural values, the spirit of hospitality, friendliness and the steadfastness of the Vietnamese people.

How has Vietnam prepared to host the fourth P4G Summit , Deputy Prime Minister?
With the stature and significance of the Conference, the preparation work was closely directed and implemented early, with the active and responsible participation of ministries, branches and Hanoi city to ensure the Conference was successfully organized in all aspects, thereby attracting international attention and participation, while demonstrating the respect, hospitality and mark of Vietnam.
To date, approximately 600 international delegates from more than 40 countries and international organizations including P4G member countries and partners, guests, investment funds, research institutes, scholars, businesses, and diplomatic corps have registered to attend in person and online.
Through the organization of the P4G Summit, we hope to convey to the international community the message of a Vietnam that is determined and striving to transform its growth model, promote rapid and sustainable development, its achievements and strong economic development potential as well as the country's unique cultural values, the spirit of hospitality, friendliness and the steadfastness of the Vietnamese people. |
This number is currently being updated. It is expected that we will welcome many high-ranking leaders of countries and partners, including the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, three Prime Ministers, many Deputy Prime Ministers, and Foreign Ministers of countries to visit Vietnam and directly attend the Conference.
Regarding the agenda, Vietnam has been and continues to actively exchange and consult with P4G member countries and partner countries to determine the theme of the Conference as "Sustainable green transformation, focusing on people", focusing on discussing and sharing experiences on policies to promote public-private partnerships, attract investment, maximize resources for green transformation, promote the application of technology and innovation to increase resource efficiency, reduce emissions, transform energy towards sustainability, and prepare human resources for the green economy.
The conference is expected to adopt the Hanoi Declaration, strongly affirming commitments to green, sustainable, people-centered growth and determination to coordinate responsible actions to respond to current global challenges.
Work related to reception, propaganda, culture, and security assurance is also focused on preparation in a thoughtful, respectful, safe, economical and effective manner, on the one hand, enhancing Vietnam's reputation in organizing major and important foreign affairs events of the country on the basis of compliance with international rules, practices and requirements, on the other hand, conveying to the international community and friends the most complete and clear image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam.
I believe that the success of this Conference will also bring value to all stakeholders, helping the international community find more effective solutions to global challenges and achieve substantive results in implementing sustainable development goals.
Thank you very much, Deputy Prime Minister!
