General Secretary To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam's stance in support of the United Nations General Assembly resolutions calling for an end to the embargo against Cuba.
On the evening of February 4, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam had a phone call with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel.
On behalf of the Party, State, people of Cuba and General Raul Castro Ruz, Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel conveyed the best wishes to the Party, State and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025) and the Lunar New Year.
The First Secretary and President of Cuba highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in building and developing the country, considering it a shining example for the international revolutionary and communist movement; and expressed his appreciation for Vietnam's solidarity and wholehearted support for Cuba over the past years.
General Secretary To Lam sincerely thanked Cuba for its special affection for the Party, State and people of Vietnam, demonstrating the political closeness, sympathy and deep sharing between the two peoples; congratulated Cuba on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the success of the Cuban Revolution (January 1, 1959 - January 1, 2025) and the achievements Cuba has made in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment and overcoming difficulties. General Secretary To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam's stance in supporting the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly in demanding an end to the embargo against Cuba.
In an atmosphere of comradeship and brotherhood, towards the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025), the leaders of the two Parties and two countries shared about the situation of each Party and each country; reaffirmed the importance of the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, considering it a priceless asset that both sides need to strive to strengthen and develop.
The two sides agreed to promote the implementation of many cooperation activities to enhance political trust; effectively implement high-level agreements reached during the historic visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Cuba in September 2024; and actively organize solemn commemorative activities and people-to-people exchanges during the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year 2025.
General Secretary To Lam reiterated the invitation and welcomed Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel to soon visit Vietnam again in 2025; at the same time, he sent his warm regards to Comrade General Raul Castro Ruz./.
