For journalist Khieu Kola, Senior Advisor to the President of the Cambodian Club of Journalists (CCJ), Senior Editor of the CNC electronic news site and television channel of the Royal Group in Cambodia, the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing left him shocked and mourning the loss of an honest leader.

He expressed regret that he no longer had the opportunity to continue to contemplate, share and spread interesting stories, works and profound articles expressed through the sharp pen of the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the people of the land of the wonder Angkor Wat.

Speaking to a VNA reporter in Phnom Penh, veteran journalist Khieu Kola, who is over 60 years old, shared his feelings: “I was really shocked, tears were about to flow. He is a person who devoted his entire life to the country, to his country, for regional and international security. This is the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam who has visited the US and many countries around the world, helping to raise the name and position of Vietnam.”

According to Mr. Khieu Kola, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a person of noble moral qualities and a simple lifestyle, worthy of being an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh.

Having regularly followed Vietnamese media and read many articles about the role of the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the fight against corruption, the veteran Cambodian journalist shared his feelings: “He is a simple man. I used to watch the news, especially through VNA, and read a touching story about him visiting his old teacher, alone, without any bodyguards or protection. This is one of the stories that many Vietnamese people shared, expressing their affection for him.”

From the perspective of a professional journalist, the veteran Cambodian journalist expressed his condolences and respect for the talent of the famous writer Nguyen Phu Trong, former Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Journalist Khieu Kola said he remembered many of the words in his articles and speeches.

Among the speeches and articles of theorist Nguyen Phu Trong, journalist Khieu Kola was particularly impressed with the statements related to the anti-corruption campaign, along with the famous saying expressing the determination to fight corruption of the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam: "When the furnace is hot, even fresh wood must burn."

According to journalist Khieu Kola, through his works, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wants to convey an educational message, warning cadres and party members not to degenerate, not to distance themselves from the people, not to cause trouble or play the role of the boss but to be servants of the people, to clearly understand their role in serving the people, to have a simple life, to be absolutely loyal to the ideal of independence and freedom, to study and follow the teachings and moral example of President Ho Chi Minh.

Expressing his admiration for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, veteran journalist Khieu Kola shared: “He is very down-to-earth, simple in the style of Ho Chi Minh as the Vietnamese call him, and is a rare and excellent writer. His way of expressing himself, using words and phrases in his speeches and articles is very unique. Through that, he shows the spirit and ideals of an excellent writer, a great leader, like the impressive statement that I will always remember: On this shirt there is not a single medal, but under this thin shirt there is a deep heart."

Recently, journalist Khieu Kola said he enjoys reading works and articles about stories related to the activities of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in his position as Head of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Vietnam. Impressed by the viewpoints and practices of anti-corruption work in Vietnam, Mr. Khieu Kola has translated and organized many articles, broadcast on CNC TV channel, and been shared and re-published by many press agencies in Cambodia.

Journalist Khieu Kola recalled the memory of visiting Hanoi with the CCJ delegation last May, when President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh gave him some books by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

He treasured and kept this special gift in a corner of his work, read each article gradually, selected and published them, and introduced the works and images of the leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam on CNC television, creating a good effect in the hearts of local people.

CNC's editor proudly shared his feelings about the achievements of himself and his colleagues: "More and more Cambodians in Phnom Penh and elsewhere know about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. They call him the honest old man in Hanoi, the honest uncle in Hanoi, who has led the fight against corruption and honored cleanliness."

Sharing with VNA reporters in Beijing, Vietnam research expert and journalist Wei Wei, China Central Radio and Television (CMG), expressed his grief and shared that now the Chinese people have also lost a person who always promoted relations between the two countries, a companion for the cause of socialism.

Journalist Wei Wei commented that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made great contributions to the cause of national construction and development, improving people's lives, promoting Party building and preventing and fighting corruption. As General Secretary Xi Jinping said: "Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong has devoted his whole life to many policies and causes of the Party and the country of Vietnam, making outstanding contributions to the cause of innovation, opening up and building socialism in Vietnam, and to the development of the world socialist movement."

Journalist Wei Wei believes that in the current globalization process in the world, no country or nation can alone avoid the influence of the world situation and the situation of the times.

Under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has developed friendly relations with countries around the world, especially China. After the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the first country that Xi Jinping visited was Vietnam. After the 20th National Congress, the first foreign leader that Xi Jinping welcomed to China was also General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Mr. Wei Wei recalled that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary Xi Jinping have established a deep friendship through many high-level visits. During the visits, the two leaders have held tea parties many times and had warm and friendly exchanges.

Since the Lunar New Year 2018, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary Xi Jinping have expressed their New Year greetings by sending each other congratulatory letters every Spring. In 2022, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping solemnly organized and awarded the “Friendship Medal” to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Journalist Wei Wei emphasized that all of this reflects the “both comrades and brothers” relationship between the two Parties, two countries and two leaders. Last year, under the leadership of the General Secretaries of the two Parties, the relationship between the two countries was upgraded to a community of shared future of strategic significance, contributing to effectively promoting the continuous development of the China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Journalist Nguoi Vi shared that he had the honor of meeting General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong many times in interviews. He was deeply impressed by the General Secretary's gentle demeanor and profound knowledge. He was like a gentle old father, always smiling, but with firm and steadfast beliefs.

Under his leadership, Vietnam has achieved rapid economic growth, greatly improved its international position, and made remarkable achievements in the fight against corruption.

Mr. Wei Wei expressed his deep sorrow at the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people have lost a great leader; the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people have lost a good comrade, a good brother, and a good friend.
