General Secretary affirms Vietnam's consistent solidarity with Cuba

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed and highly appreciated the significance of Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro Lopez Miera's visit to Vietnam in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of President Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone in Quang Tri; expressing his belief that the visit will contribute to consolidating and further deepening the special traditional friendship between the two Parties, two countries and two armies.

The General Secretary recalled the impressions and profound memories of his most recent visit to Cuba; affirmed the consistent solidarity of the Party, State and people of Vietnam towards the just cause of the Party, State and people of Cuba.

The General Secretary affirmed that the immortal saying of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood,” will remain forever in the memories and thoughts of the Vietnamese people.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated the important achievements that the Party, State and people of Cuba have achieved in recent times; shared the difficulties and challenges that Cuba is facing and believed that the Cuban people will overcome them; expressed admiration for the will, revolutionary spirit and resilience of the Cuban people; affirmed that Vietnam will do its best within its conditions and capabilities to help Cuba in the spirit of "For Cuba, Vietnam will do its best within its capabilities to help Cuba overcome temporary and immediate difficulties and challenges".

The General Secretary highly appreciated the important role and results in defense cooperation between the two countries; suggested that both sides strengthen practical and effective cooperation, in accordance with the interests of each country, for peace and development in the region and the world.

On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent his warm regards to Comrade Raul Castro, Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel, and Cuban leaders and expressed his hope to welcome Cuban Party and State leaders to visit Vietnam again.

Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera respectfully conveyed the greetings and warm regards of Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba, and Cuban leaders to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam again, witnessing the great achievements and important results that Vietnam has achieved in recent years, especially the successful control of the COVID-19 pandemic, effectively implementing key socio-economic development programs and priorities, ensuring social security, enhancing potential, position and international prestige; expressing his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will continue to achieve many great and historic achievements, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces affirmed that he will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to effectively implement bilateral cooperation contents.

Comrade Álvaro López Miera informed about the situation in Cuba, about the Cuban people's support for the Party and the Revolution as demonstrated by the results of the elections for People's Councils at all levels, the National Assembly, State Leaders and local authorities.

He shared about the efforts of the Party, State, people and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces in implementing the Resolution of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, about the efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges caused by the impact of the blockade, embargo and recent incidents and natural disasters; expressed gratitude for the wholehearted cooperation and assistance of the Party, State, people and army of Vietnam as well as Vietnam's support in opposing the embargo against Cuba; emphasized that the Party, State and People's Army of Cuba attach great importance to consolidating and preserving the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba established by President Ho Chi Minh and Leaders Fidel Castro and Raul Castro and cherished and cultivated by generations of leaders of the Party, State, people and armies of the two countries.

The Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces reported to the General Secretary on the results of cooperation between the two countries' armies in recent times, affirming that he will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to effectively implement bilateral cooperation contents, contributing to strengthening and consolidating the special friendship between the two Parties, States, peoples and armies.
