The General Secretary and President emphasized that from a land without a name on the world map, from a country devastated by war, Vietnam has risen to become a symbol of peace, stability and hospitality.

On the evening of August 29, at Ho Guom Theater, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife chaired the ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong; former Standing members of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh, Tran Quoc Vuong; Politburo members, Secretaries of the Party Central Committee, leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; leaders of departments, ministries, branches, central agencies, Hanoi city, neighboring localities and socio-political organizations, along with representatives of revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veterans, scientists, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, artists, businessmen, athletes, youth, and outstanding students nationwide.
On the international side, there were Mr. Saadi Salama, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Vietnam, Head of the Diplomatic Corps; Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, and Heads of international organizations in Hanoi.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam stated that on September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, solemnly announcing to the world the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Over the past 79 years, under the leadership of the Party, following His call, echoing the Oath of Independence, with the immortal thought "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom," the entire Vietnamese people have united in heart and mind, all as one, together with pure international solidarity, leading the Vietnamese revolution to victory after victory, liberating the nation, unifying the country, successfully carrying out the renovation process, and steadily moving towards socialism.

From a backward economy, Vietnam has risen to be among the Top 40 leading economies, with a trade scale in the Top 20 countries in the world, an important link in 16 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) connecting with 60 key economies in the region and globally.
From an isolated country, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 193 countries around the world, has strategic partnerships and comprehensive partnerships with 30 countries, including all permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, major countries and is an active member of over 70 regional and international organizations.
Taking the happiness and prosperity of the people as the goal to strive for, Vietnam is considered by the United Nations and international friends as a success story, a bright spot in poverty reduction, constantly improving the material and spiritual life of the people.
The General Secretary and President affirmed that the great achievements after 79 years of the country's founding were due to the spirit of patriotism, great national unity, the will of self-reliance, self-improvement, and the strong desire for independence, freedom, and happiness of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam; at the same time, under the wise and talented leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam - a Party that always takes serving the people as its way of life and goal, is always absolutely and infinitely loyal to the interests of the nation and the people, as President Ho Chi Minh said "apart from the interests of the Fatherland and the people, our Party has no other interests," has steered the boat of revolution, brought Vietnam through all rapids, and created many miracles.
The General Secretary and President pointed out that the Party, State and People of Vietnam are striving to accelerate and soon reach the finish line to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, aiming to celebrate the 80th anniversary of independence, the 50th anniversary of national reunification, determined to realize the development goals by 2030, the 100th anniversary of the country under the leadership of the Party; in 2045, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, making Vietnam a developed country with high income; the people have a prosperous and happy life, live in a secure, safe and secure environment, no one is left behind, thereby fulfilling the wish in Uncle Ho's will that "Our entire Party and people unite to strive to build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, and make a worthy contribution to the world revolutionary cause."
In the context of the world situation with opportunities, but also many difficulties and challenges, the General Secretary and President believes that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, promoting the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride", taking the great national unity and pure international unity as the driving force, strongly mobilizing the people's strength, closely linking the Party's will with the people's hearts as the foundation, Vietnam will certainly enter a new era, an era of national growth, constantly striving, contributing more to maintaining peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
The General Secretary and President emphasized that the Party, State and people of Vietnam wish to continue to receive support and close cooperation from friends, partners and peace-loving people around the world with the role of bridging and promoting diplomats, Heads of international organizations in Vietnam, and foreign investors in the process of building and developing the country; at the same time, he firmly believes that, together, we will overcome all challenges, take advantage of opportunities to join hands to build a world of peaceful and sustainable development, and shape a fair international political and economic order, based on the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
On behalf of the ambassadors, chargé d'affaires, and heads of international organizations in Hanoi, Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama, Head of the Diplomatic Corps, sent the best wishes to the leaders of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam on the occasion of this great event of the Vietnamese nation; stating that the sacred moment at Ba Dinh Square 79 years ago will forever be a brilliant milestone, marking the birth of an independent Vietnam after many extremely arduous journeys, realizing the ideals and aspirations of the Vietnamese people for independence, freedom, and happiness as President Ho Chi Minh said at Ba Dinh Square in the fall of 1945.

That heroic event is not only engraved in the hearts of every Vietnamese person but also a great encouragement for peoples fighting to liberate their country, for justice and righteousness all over the world.
The Ambassador was moved to express that this year, the National Day celebration was even more solemn as the great loss of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing has not yet passed; emphasizing that the image of an honest, modest, simple, approachable, intelligent and decisive leader will last forever.
The Vietnamese people and many international friends will always remember him as an exemplary role model, representing the Vietnamese people's aspiration for a strong, fair, humane and transparent country.
Expressing his impression of the positive results that Vietnam has achieved in recent times, Ambassador Salama stated that in the context of the complex international situation, wars, conflicts and strategic competition causing unpredictable instability, “bamboo” diplomacy, a symbol of flexibility, resilience, agility but consistency, has been implemented comprehensively and effectively by Vietnam. Vietnam continues to affirm its identity and position in the international arena, expanding and deepening relations with friends around the world.
The Ambassador affirmed that with a consistent stance in resolving international issues in the spirit of the rule of law, humanity, equality and mutual respect, Vietnam has an increasingly important voice in regional and global forums.
This is the result of the correct policy and wise leadership of Vietnam, and the crystallization of the intelligence, mettle, culture and peace-loving tradition of the Vietnamese people.
Expressing gratitude for the support of the State and relevant agencies of Vietnam, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Salama affirmed his commitment and determination to continue efforts to promote and further develop the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and countries and international organizations through peaceful and mutually beneficial cooperation for a world of peace, freedom, equality, prosperity and sustainable development.
After the ceremony, there was a special art program celebrating the 79th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with many special performances by the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra, along with Vietnamese and international artists, including many songs and musical works by famous Vietnamese and international musicians, praising President Ho Chi Minh and the revolution, introducing the country and people of Vietnam./.
