(NADS) - Last night, January 21, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province solemnly organized the program "Tet for the poor - Spring of Giap Thin 2024". 207 agencies, units, businesses, and philanthropists registered to support the program with a total amount of more than 140.7 billion VND.
Attending the Program were comrades: Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly; Thai Thanh Quy, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; Vice Chairman of the People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, National Assembly delegation, leaders of departments, branches, unions, provincial level, leaders of districts, cities and affiliated Party Committees; agencies, units, enterprises, collectives, individuals inside and outside the province.
In 2023, Nghe An province will face numerous difficulties and challenges due to the economic recession after the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this is the year that Nghe An mobilized support to help the poor, people in difficult circumstances, and the less fortunate, reaching 872 billion VND to carry out social security work, the highest ever. In particular, the program "Tet for the poor - Spring Quy Mao 2023" called for donations of money and goods worth over 137 billion VND.
Speaking at the Program, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung said that in 2023, with a journey full of difficulties and challenges, thanks to the solidarity, determination, and efforts of the entire political system; the consensus and unanimity of the business community and the people, Nghe An has overcome difficulties and challenges to focus on socio-economic development and achieved remarkable results. The growth rate of total product is estimated at 7.14%; State budget revenue is estimated at 21,279 billion VND, equal to 134.2% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council, the second year exceeding the 20 trillion VND mark; Investment attraction has achieved very positive results, especially attracting foreign investment capital, ranking 8th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, with a total newly registered and adjusted capital of more than 1.6 billion USD.
According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, taking care of Tet for poor households, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances is a task that the entire political system of Nghe An province, organizations, individuals, and businesses regularly pay attention to and carry out. After 11 years of implementing the "Tet for the Poor" program, Nghe An province has called for more than 726 billion VND to take care of Tet for hundreds of thousands of poor households. For the 2023 Tet Quy Mao alone, the whole province has mobilized more than 137 billion VND, giving gifts to more than 188,000 poor households, near-poor households, policy families, and social protection beneficiaries, with an average value of at least 500,000 VND per gift.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his gratitude, recognition and deep thanks to the kindness and noble gestures of domestic and foreign agencies, organizations, units and individuals, especially enterprises and businessmen who, despite very difficult conditions, have actively responded and practically supported the poor and poor households through the Fund for the Poor at all levels and social security programs.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hopes that the poor and those in difficult circumstances need to further promote their will to be self-reliant, self-reliant, take care of their labor, join hands to care for the poor in the same situation according to the moral principles of "The whole leaves cover the torn leaves" and "The few torn leaves cover the many torn leaves" and the aspiration to rise up and escape poverty sustainably. As of 10:00 p.m. on January 21, 2024, 207 organizations, agencies, units, localities, enterprises and individuals inside and outside the province have supported the Program with more than 140.7 billion VND in cash and in kind.
