In recent times, the Lac Son District Elderly Association has actively promoted and mobilized people to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; participated in grassroots democratic activities, contributed opinions and proposed solutions to enhance the Party's leadership role and preserve the nation's traditional values. The results of the "Old Age - Bright Example" movement continue to affirm the important role and position of the elderly in all areas of social life, especially in participating in building the grassroots political system.

The district has 320 elderly people participating in the work of the Party, mass organizations, and associations assigned by the Party and the State; of which 103 elderly people are Party cell secretaries and deputy secretaries; 24 elderly people are heads and deputy heads of residential areas, villages, hamlets, and residential groups; 59 elderly people are heads of the Front work committee; 17 elderly people are heads of the Farmers' Association; 109 elderly people are heads of the War Veterans' Association; 8 elderly people are heads of the Women's Association. In their positions, the "big trees" are leading residential groups, villages, and hamlets to unite, stabilize, and develop; always completing tasks excellently, and are annually commended by all levels.
In the meetings with voters and National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels, the NCT frankly raised existing and pressing issues in the locality, promptly reflected the opinions and aspirations of the people; at the same time, advised on solutions to overcome difficulties. Thereby, contributing to building a clean and strong political system in the locality.
Responding to the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas (NTM) and civilized urban areas", cadres and members of the Elderly Association have mobilized their relatives and taken the lead in implementing land consolidation, plot exchange, donating land for roads and welfare works, contributing to the locality in completing the criteria for building NTM.
In addition, the Association coordinates with the police force and departments, branches and organizations to participate in conciliation and resolution of conflicts arising among the people, maintaining peaceful life, maintaining rural security, creating a premise for the successful implementation of local economic, cultural and social goals.
The movement of the elderly doing good business has achieved many encouraging results. With their experience, the elderly actively seek and learn scientific and technical knowledge, advanced models and examples to apply, solve employment problems, increase income for themselves, their families and society. Many models of cultivation, livestock and poultry farming, beekeeping; planting trees for timber and fruit trees; raising fish for meat and fish for breeding; producing construction materials, producing means of production; producing rattan and bamboo for export, weaving traditional brocade; doing business services, etc. have revenue from 100 million VND to 500 million VND/year, many elderly people have revenue of over 1 billion VND/year.
