USD price at banks "storms" again
The State Bank announced the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong to the USD, applicable for October 16, is 24,187 VND, an increase of 10 VND compared to the previous session.
Banks also simultaneously adjusted their listed USD prices. Accordingly, Vietcombank bought at VND24,780/USD and sold at VND25,170/USD, up VND55 and VND45 respectively compared to the previous session.
At Eximbank, this bank sells each USD at 25,140 VND, and buys at 24,780 VND, up 15 VND compared to the previous session. Following the same trend, the exchange rate on the free market also increased by about 10 VND, to 25,260 - 25,360 VND (buy - sell).
The selling price exceeding the 25,000 VND mark is surprising, because the USD price has been quite "calm" since September. After the Fed's first interest rate cut in many years, the USD index plummeted, helping to cool down the domestic exchange rate.
The reason for the fluctuation in the domestic exchange rate is believed to be due to the increasing influence of the USD on the international market. In the session of October 16, the USD increased by 0.1%, approaching the level of 104 points.
