As of noon today (December 14), Phuoc Son district authorities are still trying to rescue four people trapped in the middle of the Dak Mi River since the afternoon of December 13.
These are people living in Hamlet 3, Phuoc Chanh Commune. After finishing their farming, they crossed the Dak Se stream to the Dak Mi river to return home. When they crossed the Dak Se stream and reached the sandbar located downstream of the Dak Mi 3 hydroelectric reservoir, they suddenly encountered heavy rain. Floodwaters from upstream poured down, separating and trapping all four people on the sandbar in the middle of the river.
This morning, Dak Mi 3 Hydropower Plant staff discovered people in distress. Due to the strong water flow, hydropower plant staff could only use a rope thrown across the river, more than 10 meters long, with the help of authorities, to create a pulley to bring food and drinking water across.
