Barrel explodes like a bomb in Ho Chi Minh City, one person injured

A 220-liter iron drum containing chemicals exploded inside a car repair shop in Ho Chi Minh City, injuring a man who had to be hospitalized.

The incident happened at around 6:00 p.m. this afternoon (October 28), at house number 916, Hau Giang Street, Ward 12, District 6 (HCMC).

At that time, people living on Hau Giang street heard a loud explosion like a bomb.

When they ran to check, they found the man lying motionless in front of house number 916 with a wound on his leg. The victim was then taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

At the scene, the deformed lid of the barrel was lying in front of the house above, while the barrel body (220 liter type) after the explosion flew to the opposite lane, about 50m from the scene.

Upon receiving the report, District 6 Police and related units arrived to block off the scene and investigate the cause of the explosion.

According to local residents, the injured victim was the owner of a car repair shop. He was removing barrels before the explosion.
