Promoting the development of automobile support industry

In order to support enterprises in the province operating in the field of supporting industries for the automobile industry to develop, have connections, improve competitiveness, and participate deeply in the domestic supply chain for Toyota, recently, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a plan, assigning tasks to each department, branch, and local government to specify the cooperation contents according to the Memorandum of Understanding between the province and Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV).

There are currently 3 automobile manufacturing and assembling enterprises in the province (Toyota, Honda and Daewoo Bus); in which, Toyota products always hold the leading position in the Vietnamese automobile market. TMV also became the first automobile manufacturer to have a complete production process including 5 stages of stamping, welding, painting, assembly and quality control.

One of TMV's commitments to contributing to the development of the automobile industry is to increase the localization rate through manufacturing components right at the factory, attracting leading suppliers to invest in Vietnam, and searching for and developing domestic suppliers.

Currently, the list of TMV suppliers has reached 60, including 13 Vietnamese suppliers, bringing the total number of localized products to over 1,000 products of all kinds. Recently, the company held a ceremony to launch the 700,000th vehicle, demonstrating the company's efforts in promoting domestic production according to the Government's direction. Thereby, contributing to the development of the automobile industry in particular and the country's economy in general.

In fact, in the past time, TMV has participated in providing consulting support for many supporting industry enterprises in and outside the province. Within the framework of the program, the company sent experts to enterprises to find out existing problems and provide on-site consulting and support, recording positive results in 5S improvement activities, labor safety... such as reducing inventory and factory area, maximizing costs, increasing productivity as well as improving the working environment of employees... in these enterprises.

In order to turn Vinh Phuc into a center for automobile and motorbike production in the country according to the approved Provincial Planning orientation for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, at the end of 2024, at the event "The 2nd Vinh Phuc Innovation and Startup Festival, 2024" (Techfest VinhPhuc 2024), TMV and the Provincial People's Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation to support domestic enterprises in Vinh Phuc in the field of automobile supporting industry to improve business capacity and promote the local economy. The activity will be implemented from 2025 to 2027.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Nakano Keita - General Director of TMV said: "For Toyota Vietnam, our top goal is always to actively contribute to the development of the Vietnamese automobile industry and automobile support industry".

Accordingly, within the framework of the signed cooperation, TMV and the Provincial People's Committee will coordinate to implement activities including: Strengthening the connection between the province and TMV in the fields of processing and manufacturing industry, automobile support industry, and electric automobiles to effectively implement linkage programs and support businesses; support, provide training and consultancy to improve capacity for a number of domestic enterprises in the province.

At the same time, coordinate and implement on-site investment promotion activities, investment promotion in Japan, organize promotion activities and seminars, connect Japanese enterprises with enterprises in the province...

Currently, the Department of Industry and Trade is presiding over and coordinating with departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts and cities, the Provincial Business Association and TMV to review and select enterprises and suppliers to participate in the company's supply chain; coordinate in the process of implementing consulting and training activities to improve capacity for a number of enterprises in the province in the fields of processing and manufacturing industry, automobile support industry, electric automobiles, etc.

Coordinate with the Provincial Investment Promotion and Enterprise Support Center to carry out on-site investment promotion activities, promote investment in Japan, organize promotion activities and seminars, connect Japanese enterprises with enterprises in the province.

Share and develop a Handbook of criteria for screening and selecting businesses and suppliers that ensure their capacity to participate in TMV's supply chain; coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies to select suitable businesses to participate in the company's supply chain... Thereby, contributing to supporting the improvement of production capacity and creating many sustainable development opportunities for domestic businesses.
