On the afternoon of March 5, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith - Deputy Minister of National Defense,
Chief of General Staff of the Lao People's Army - and a high-ranking military delegation of the Lao People's Army are on an official visit to Vietnam.
Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith said that the General Staff of the Lao People's Army and the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army had just had a very successful meeting. The two sides agreed to focus on promoting cooperative relations, focusing on effectively implementing cooperation contents according to the common perception of the two countries' senior leaders, especially the Vietnam - Laos High-Level Agreement in 2024, the meeting between the leaders of the three parties of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia. The two sides also agreed to increase sharing of strategic issues, through high-level meetings, the Defense Policy Dialogue mechanism; continue to support each other in multilateral forums.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two countries' armies strengthen coordination and effectively advise senior leaders on defense and security. These include promoting delegation exchanges and military exchanges between the two sides; actively implementing human resource training; promoting cooperation in cyber security, logistics and technology; stepping up management and protection of the Vietnam-Laos border for peace, stability and development, including building clusters of villages; promptly combating cross-border crimes; participating in economic development, building economic and defense models, etc.
