On the afternoon of May 9, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Park Hark Kyu, General Director in charge of Finance of Samsung Group (Korea), who is visiting and working in Vietnam.

Welcoming General Director Park Hark Kyu and the Samsung high-ranking delegation to visit and work in Vietnam, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Samsung Group in the process of implementing business in Vietnam in the context of economic fluctuations affecting economic development in general and Samsung in particular.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and General Director Park Hark Kyu were pleased to see that the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is developing strongly; political trust between the two countries is constantly being strengthened; cooperation in all fields is developing strongly, especially in the fields of politics, economics, culture and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries is increasingly close...; they believe that this is an important foundation for Samsung to confidently expand its investment in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always pays attention to and attaches importance to improving the investment environment, commits to creating favorable conditions for foreign enterprises to operate long-term production and business in Vietnam; continues to accompany and create favorable conditions for the Group's projects to invest effectively and develop sustainably in Vietnam with the viewpoint of "harmonious benefits, shared risks" and in the spirit of "listening and understanding together; sharing visions of action; working together, winning together, enjoying together and developing together".
Vietnam is implementing three strategic breakthroughs, thereby helping to reduce compliance costs, input costs for businesses, and increase product competitiveness. In addition, it is paying attention to doing a good job of social security, creating favorable conditions for foreigners, including Koreans, to work conveniently and long-term in Vietnam.
The General Director of Samsung Group thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to receive the delegation; said that in 2023, despite difficulties in supply sources and fluctuations in the world economy, Samsung's revenue reached over 65 billion USD and exports reached 55.7 billion USD; it is expected that in 2024, Samsung's exports will grow by more than 10% compared to 2023.
Mr. Park Hark Kyu said that up to now, Sasung has invested in Vietnam with a total capital of up to 22.4 billion USD and is expected to add about 1 billion USD annually. Along with investing in research, development, production and export of electronic and high-tech products, Samsung has invested and will invest in the production of supporting industries, training human resources for Vietnamese enterprises; supporting Vietnamese enterprises to participate in Samsung's production and supply chain; wishing to continue to develop and contribute to Vietnam's import and export turnover and Vietnam's overall economic development.

Thanking Samsung for building a research and development center and participating in human resource training in Vietnam, the Prime Minister asked Samsung to closely coordinate, effectively and substantially deploy training centers located at the National Innovation Center established on the basis of cooperation agreements between the two sides; promote cooperation to turn Vietnamese digital technology enterprises into partners in Samsung's ecosystem; increase investment and expand research and development centers, support start-up and innovation activities; and train high-quality human resources in Vietnam.
Welcoming and supporting the Group's plan to implement production and business activities in the coming time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Samsung Group continue to support Vietnam in further improving the capacity of domestic enterprises so that they can participate more effectively in the Group's supply chain; continue to consider Vietnam as a strategic production base and export key products to international markets, especially in the context of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) - EVFTA and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) coming into effect.
General Director Park Hark Kyu thanked and agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's opinion; highly appreciated the investment and business environment in Vietnam and the Prime Minister's spirit of always listening to and accompanying businesses; and said that Samsung will continue to accompany Vietnam on the path of development.
