On the afternoon of April 11, at the Government Office, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio to bid farewell on the occasion of the end of his term in Vietnam.

Congratulating Ambassador Yamada Takio on successfully completing his term in Vietnam and being awarded the Friendship Medal by the President, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated and thanked the Ambassador for his sentiments, enthusiasm and efforts in promoting the multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
The two sides expressed their delight at the strong, comprehensive and substantial development of the Vietnam-Japan relationship in many areas during the Ambassador's tenure in Vietnam. Japan has maintained its position as one of Vietnam's leading economic partners as the No. 1 ODA provider, No. 2 investor and labor partner, No. 3 tourism partner and No. 4 trade partner of Vietnam. The relationship between the two countries has gradually become a typical model of effective and sincere cooperation, with very open potential and prospects.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh summarized the bilateral relationship in the past time with 5 points: Political trust is more sincere, affectionate, and profound; economic cooperation has gradually recovered with higher efficiency and more new opportunities have opened up, continuing to be the main pillar of the bilateral relationship; cultural, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and labor cooperation are stronger; coordination in sharing information, mutual support in regional and international issues is increasingly closer, more trustworthy, and more substantial; cooperation and connection between localities are more bustling.
Accordingly, Vietnam and Japan have upgraded their diplomatic relations to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World"; the total ODA loan capital for recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic has increased by 1 billion USD in 2023, Japan's total accumulated foreign direct investment reached 74.2 billion USD, an increase of 24% compared to the beginning of the Ambassador's term; bilateral trade turnover in 2023 reached 45 billion USD, an increase of 13.6% compared to 2020; Japan is a country with a large number of Vietnamese people coming to study, work, and live, and has increased rapidly in recent years...
Affirming that the achievements of the above-mentioned bilateral relations have been greatly contributed by the Ambassador and the staff of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, especially in supporting Vietnam in preventing and combating the COVID-19 pandemic when the Ambassador first took office in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that in the coming time, regardless of his position, the Ambassador continue to promote his role and contribute to the Vietnam-Japan relationship in all fields, especially in economics, investment, attracting businesses to invest in priority fields as well as new fields such as green transformation, digital transformation, high technology, innovation, semiconductors; promoting labor cooperation, human resource training, people-to-locality exchange, tourism development, etc.

Thanking the Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio thanked the affection and support that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Government, ministries, branches, localities and people of Vietnam have given to the Ambassador so that he can complete his term of office in Vietnam.
In the spirit that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated about the relationship between the two countries as "Affection, Trust, Sincerity" and with the Prime Minister's motto "If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together", the Ambassador has made efforts to contribute to fostering the relationship between the two countries and achieved encouraging results.
The Ambassador said that the framework of "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World Vietnam - Japan" is being gradually implemented by Japan and Vietnam through specific programs and projects, including promoting Metro Line 2 project in Ho Chi Minh City; North - South expressway section Ben Luc - Long Thanh; Japan - Vietnam University; Yen Xa wastewater system in Hanoi... Ambassador Yamada Takio suggested that Vietnam continue to work with Japan to promote projects such as digital transformation, green transformation, energy transformation, renewable energy development, biomass power, emission reduction...
Agreeing with the Ambassador's opinion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reiterated the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the Emperor and Empress of Japan to visit Vietnam; through the Ambassador, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the sincere greetings and regards of the Prime Minister and senior leaders of Vietnam to Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and the Japanese leaders; believed that in any position, Ambassador Yamada Takio would always support Vietnam and foster the Vietnam - Japan relationship; always carry with him beautiful memories of the country and people of Vietnam; affirmed that the Ambassador would always be welcomed in Vietnam.
