The event was organized by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) in a combination of live and online formats with the main bridge taking place at the 500 kV Pho Noi transformer station (Hung Yen), connecting online to 8 bridges in 8 provinces where the project passes through.
Attending the inauguration ceremony at the bridge points were comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Deputy Prime Ministers, leaders of departments, ministries, central agencies, leaders of the provinces of Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), and representatives of people in the areas where the power lines pass through.
The 500 kV line project, circuit 3, Quang Trach - Pho Noi is a large-scale project, with a total length of 519 km, 2 circuits with 1,177 pole locations, and a total investment of more than 22,300 billion VND (nearly 1 billion USD).
The project has an excavation volume of more than 2.5 million m3, using more than 705,000 m3 of concrete, nearly 70,000 tons of foundation steel; the total volume of steel column erection is 139,000 tons; pulling a total of nearly 14,000 km of various types of conductors.
This is a key, urgent project of great significance to increase the power transmission capacity through the 500 kV system from the Central to the North with a capacity of 2,500 MW at present to 5,000 MW, improve the stability of the power system operation, increase power supply to the North in 2025 and the following years, reduce the risk of overloading and overloading of existing 500 kV lines and stations, and contribute to ensuring national energy security.
According to EVN and EVNNPT, the project construction process encountered many difficulties and major challenges, but with new thinking, methods and approaches compared to previous methods, the project implementation time was significantly shortened, meeting the requirements for project completion as directed by the Prime Minister. This is unprecedented with previous 500 kV transmission line construction projects when, according to assessments, projects of similar scale and volume had to be implemented within 3 to 4 years.
Previously, the 500 kV line 3 Pleiku-My Phuoc-Cau Bong project, 437 km long, had to be constructed in nearly 3 years, and the 500 kV line 3 Vung Ang-Quang Trach-Doc Soi-Pleiku 2 project, 740 km long, also needed nearly 4 years of construction.
However, the 500 kV line project, circuit 3, Quang Trach - Pho Noi, was completed after about 6 months of construction. In terms of project scale, the 500 kV North-South line, circuit 1, required 60,000 tons of steel poles, while this project required 139,000 tons of steel, which is more than twice as much as circuit 1.
Continuously chairing many meetings to review and urge progress as well as inspect the actual construction site in recent times, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested leaders of ministries, branches, localities, political and social organizations, EVN, EVNNPT, consulting units, equipment and material suppliers, and construction units to work with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to the wind and storm", "only working, not backing down", "not enough work during the day, working at night", "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", working continuously 24/7, "3 shifts, 4 shifts", "working through holidays, Tet, and holidays". With that determination and effort, the project was completed, energized and put into operation in accordance with the requirements directed by the Prime Minister.
