On the morning of January 20 local time, at the Czech Government Headquarters in Prague, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala chaired a solemn ceremony to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the Vietnamese delegation on an official visit to the Czech Republic from January 18-20.
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and invited him to move to the seat of honor. Military band played the national anthems of both countries.
Prime Minister Petr Fiala invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to review the guard of honor, after which the two Prime Ministers introduced the delegations from both sides attending the welcoming ceremony.
After the welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Petr Fiala had a small meeting and led high-ranking delegations of the two countries to hold talks.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to the Czech Republic takes place in the context of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic continuing to develop well after 75 years. This is an event to kick off the 2025 celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the two sides also plan to upgrade relations during this visit.
The Czech Republic has always supported Vietnam throughout its struggle for national independence and reunification in the past as well as in building and defending the Fatherland today.
Vietnam always attaches importance to developing traditional relations with the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic always pays attention to implementing the policy of developing cooperative relations with Vietnam in all fields. The two sides regularly exchange delegations at high and all levels; maintain cooperation mechanisms; and always support each other in international forums.
In recent years, bilateral economic and trade relations have developed remarkably. The Czech Republic is Vietnam's leading trade partner in Central Eastern Europe, while Vietnam is the Czech Republic's most important partner in ASEAN.
Trade turnover between the two countries has recently grown strongly, reaching about 2 billion USD in 2024. Currently, the Czech Republic has 41 investment projects with a total investment capital of 91 million USD in Vietnam.
In addition to close cooperation in the fields of economics and trade, the two countries also actively cooperate in the fields of defense, security, science, technology, culture, sports, etc.
The Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic currently has about 100,000 people, well integrated with the host country, actively contributing to strengthening relations and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries; recognized by the Czech Republic as an ethnic minority in the Czech Republic.
