This is part of measures to reduce the use of these products to protect the environment.
Under the "Seoul plastic waste-free" policy, the city's major medical centers, such as Samsung Medical Center, plan to introduce multi-use containers from the second half of this year, while Dongbu Seoul Hospital will also introduce reusable containers later this month.
Previously, in July 2023, Seoul Medical Center announced that it would no longer use disposable containers.
Starting in April this year, 38 retailers at Jamsil Baseball Stadium have been selling food and drinks in reusable containers.
According to statistics from the Seoul city government, if service agencies do not use disposable containers, the amount of annual waste from these facilities will decrease by about 80%.
According to the city, the implementation of the "Seoul without plastic waste" plan has helped the entire city reduce about 378 tons of single-use plastic items in the past 2 years, equivalent to a reduction of about 1,039 tons of CO2.
