TPO - Long Phuoc Road in Thu Duc City (HCMC) has been completed and opened to traffic this morning, September 12. This road connects Long Dai Bridge and connects Long Binh Ward to Long Phuoc Ward. In the near future, Thu Duc City will consider a connection plan with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.
On the morning of September 12, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City (HCMC) held the inauguration ceremony of Long Phuoc Road project, Thu Duc City.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan - Director of Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that the Long Phuoc road upgrade project is one of the key projects of Thu Duc City, playing an important role in completing the regional traffic network, connecting Long Phuoc ward with Long Binh ward and meeting the increasing travel needs of people on Long Phuoc island.

At the same time, the project also contributes to gradually completing the planned traffic infrastructure system, promoting urban development with residential projects, university clusters and eco-tourism along the Dong Nai River. Thereby, creating a driving force for the development of the eastern gateway of Thu Duc City.
Mr. Tuan said that this project has a total length of nearly 6km, width of 12m; the last section is 9m wide. The total investment is about 260 billion VND, of which compensation and resettlement support costs are 95 billion VND and construction costs are 107 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc - a local resident - said that the Long Phuoc road project has connected smoothly from the starting point of Long Dai bridge over Tac river to the end point in Ward 7, Long Phuoc ward. Thereby, creating more convenient conditions for people to travel, shortening the journey from Long Phuoc ward to Long Binh ward and the center of Thu Duc city, instead of having to go around Truong Phuoc bridge - Nguyen Xien street - Go Cong intersection as before.
The project started on December 22, 2017. In 2019, construction had to be temporarily suspended due to difficulties in land acquisition. In addition, in 2020 and 2021, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, site clearance was prolonged. In 2022, with the consensus of the people affected by the project and the strong direction of the City Party Committee - People's Committee of Thu Duc City, conditions were created for the project to restart and reach the finish line according to the set plan.
“The completion and operation of Long Phuoc road will expand the new connection route to the eastern gateway of Thu Duc city, which has great significance for traffic in the area; sharing the increasing traffic burden in Thu Duc city” - Mr. Tuan informed.
Long Phuoc Street connects Long Dai Bridge and flows from Long Binh Ward (towards Vinhome Grand Park residential area) to Long Phuoc Ward (towards Long Thanh Bridge). |
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Mai Huu Quyet - Vice Chairman of Thu Duc City People's Committee said that Thu Duc City is the first city-within-a-city model in the country, with many advantages in terms of economy and traffic infrastructure after its establishment.
However, in reality, there are some areas where infrastructure has not been invested synchronously, not really meeting the travel needs of people such as District 9 (old). In particular, Long Phuoc road is one of the routes that has not ensured synchronous connection. Today, this route has been completed, helping to improve the quality of life for people in Long Phuoc ward.

“In the coming time, Thu Duc City will try to invest in synchronous modernization of the entire Long Phuoc ward area, including the science and technology park, Long Thuan street and connections between Long Phuoc street and Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to ensure the most stable and best traffic, serving people's lives and developing the local socio-economy,” said Mr. Quyet.
